Great location by the lake and terrific fire pit.
Can’t beat the location. For a group of 8 adults we would have enjoyed another bathroom but overall I highly recommend this home on the lake.

A very cool cabin (that can be a bit warm)
I'll start out with the only real negative I have for this place: it's kind hot when it's hot outside. But that's just the reality of a lot of places up north. If you want to ensure a cool stay, get a place with a/c. Otherwise, stay out of the house during the day if you get unlucky and there's hot weather. There's plenty of stuff to do during the day up there to make up for it. With that out of the way, I can say that this place was great. The well-stocked kitchen met all our needs (including the reverse osmosis filter, a very nice inclusion). We wound up staying in all the bedrooms, and so I can say that all the beds were comfy. The basement has a musty odor, unfortunately, but it never stopped my kids from staying down there for (too many) videogames. One thing I didn't realize is that the picture with the great stargazing windows above the bed is the loft bed. That's really only useful if the person sleeping up there wants to be the last to go to bed at night and the first to get up in the morning. And you will be if you sleep there, because there's no escaping the massive sunlight coming in. But if you don't want that, there are plenty of other beds to take unless you're going up with a huge crew. The private beach is the real jewel in the crown here. It's a very nice one, with fairly easy access (just a couple of steep steps up/down). Even though it's not a very long stretch, my kids loved exploring it, with lots of great rock hunting opportunities.

Magical Stay at the Dome
The Dome Home is gorgeous from the moment you walk in with the windows and views. We loved gathering at the large dining table for meals as well as the fire table on the deck. We enjoyed a bonfire down by the water as well. Beds were very comfortable as were the pillows. Kids enjoyed the basement and their own bedroom. Our only complaint would be trying to cool the dome down as there is no AC. We had temps in the 70's with nights in the 60's. We opened the windows as instructed to get the airflow moving.

Perfect Family Getaway Spot
We loved our stay at the dome! Right off the bat, we noted that it was easy to locate from the highway, which is super helpful on Hwy 61. Everything was beautifully clean, organized, and clearly labled, making it easy to get adjusted to the new space. The beds were all comfortable, and the decor was classy and cohesive. The location was perfect for getting to some of our favorite north shore adventure spots. I don't really have any criticisms, but it's important to note that the dome does not have air conditioning, which is a detail we missed when we booked it. We lucked out with a cool August weekend, but had it been any hotter, it would have gotten pretty uncomfortable inside, especially in the loft. The downstairs was nice and cool, though. The fireplace would make it a super cozy fall and/or winter rental. The only things I wished for and didn't find were sugar for my morning coffee, a whisk, and conditioner in the showers (shampoo and body wash were provided). We would (and will!) DEFINITELY return to this house! It was such a unique experience, and having the lake at our fingertips was amazing.

Unique experience
Due to location and design it feels like an unique experience. Plenty of things to do nearby, right on the lake and easy to access if you don’t mind cold water. Dome is spacious, beds very comfortable, kitchen well stocked. We had a great time

Best place to stay on the North Shore!
What an amazing home! Incredibly spacious and light filled with wonderfully comfortable beds and every amenity. The location is perfect, Lutsen and Grand Marais to the north and Temperance and Tettagouche to the south, there’s always something to do if you want to leave the house. The owners were very friendly and responsive. We will definitely be back next year!

Fantastic stay at the big lake!
What a wonderful experience, everything we wanted and more. Walk down to Lake superior for relaxing views and sounds of the lake. Enjoy a fire on the shore line and on the deck that overlooks the lake! Fantastic property inside and out. Highly recommend!

Amazing Geodome
This house is amazing. It was fully stocked with everything we needed and it was cutely decorated and very clean. I am a total Princess and the Pea type and the beds, pillows, and bedding were quite comfortable, especially after a day of hiking. The views from this house inside and outside are incredible. During the day, the view of the lake was gorgeous and at night you could see the stars like you were outside. The house is absolutely perfect and I can’t wait to go back.

Where to start? The property was incredible and the dome is stunning. We hosted our close friends for our elopement weekend and it was the perfect place. The beds are comfortable (best night of sleep ever) the rooms are beautiful and clean, and the living room spaces are large and fit a group of people well if you’re just hanging out. The outside shoreline is beautiful and being able to hear the waves crash was so peaceful. Overall the property is well maintained and you can tell a lot of love and work has gone into making this a peaceful getaway. I will say make sure you plan a trip to Costco or target in Duluth before making your way up to save you some time or last minute trips to the Tofte general store! We would absolutely stay here again.

Great Stay and Hope to Return
This is a great property in the top of its class and a prime location for exploring the north shore. Well setup for 1 or 2 families with two main bedrooms on the main floor then a kids' bedroom that sleeps 4 in the walk-out basement. Can flex to three families with the big bed in the open loft and extra sleeping options in the basement. Also great for a multi-generational visit. Perfect setup for kids downstairs with a TV and room to play, while adults hang out upstairs. Right on a cool rocky shoreline both kids and adults will love to explore. Wood fire pit on a deck in the backyard. Gas fire pit style table on the deck attached to the dining room. Well appointed kitchen with new appliances and all the amenities you could need. House is just beautiful. Access to a garage; also 40amp level-2 EV charging. This house has it all. Whole family loved it.

Great family vacation location!
We loved our stay at the North Star with extended family! Most everything we needed was available, including a fully stocked kitchen with all the appliances we could ask for! There were great spaces for our family to gather, watch movies, enjoy a fire and play board games. We had a lot of fun splashing in Lake Superior, just steps from the house. The beds were really comfortable as well, including the separate space for our kids. The location was also close to lots of hiking locations and activities. It can get a little hot without air conditioning in the dome. Also, I’d recommend installing some larger rocks to safely step down to the beach, as some of the smaller rocks were loose. These are small issues, as we greatly enjoyed our stay!

The dome
This is a great property. It is right on the water of Lake Superior. Every morning the lake was a little different and we happened to be there during a full moon with the reflection on the water. So beautiful. The house was well equipped and easy to find. We had a great time. It was our first time to the North Shore and I am sure it is not the last. Thank you!

Family Getaway
The Dome home is unique and beautifully decorated. Several small touches that were appreciated. There were 9 of us, ages 16-79. We had plenty of room. We enjoyed the fires on the lower deck by the lake. Hosts were very responsive. Home is furnished with everything you need. Would definitely recommend.

Great weekend with family
My husband and I spent a long weekend with our adult kids and spouses, it worked well for the 6 of us. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, hiked Carlton Peak, shopped Grand Marais, visited Black Sand beach and Goosebury Falls. We all enjoyed the weekend!
