I booked a room via expedia before starting a 4 hour drive, to arrive late and catch a couple hours sleep before an early morning flight, with my wife and daughter. Upon arriving at 1:30 am, the front desk staff told me that someone had called me and spoken to me and I had agreed to cancel our booking. There wasn't even a missed call on my phone. The night manager tried to find alternate accommodation for over an hour, while I also called over 20 other hotels in and around Halifax, with no luck in finding another room. My family sat in the car outside the main entrance with Halifax nightlife wandering the streets around them. Only after about 1.5 hours of me standing in the lobby was another room that was "out of service" mentioned. It was a room with a leaking air conditioning unit, but it had 2 beds. I agreed to take it and it took another 30 minutes to finally get access to the room. We caught maybe 1.5 hours of sleep before having to depart for the airport. The charges were refunded, but I don't feel that enough compensation for what we had to endure, wondering if my family was going to have to sleep in a car for almost 2 hours before finding out we had an undesirable option, but an option nonetheless.

Parking is a hassle.

Parking is a huge problem. The parking lot is across the street and down a block. The waiting area in front of the hotel is miniscule. Right on the street, not very wide. Only room for 3 cars. Also - tiny windows and no view.

There is old and charming and old and run down. This is run down. No daily room service or any for a 3 night stay. I have never had that before

The only compliant is the parking- it is insane. Complicated to find the parkade and then a 10 min walk to the hotel. Insane!

This hotel is one to avoid. The hotel is in need of a renovation, The bathrooms had cracked tiles and the room did not feel clean. The room had a musty smell and the carpets were very worn.The air conditioner made a noise every time it was used. The lack of housekeeping daily was very disappointing. Parking was not available, we needed to park our car 2 blocks away and pay $26.00 per day. Also the mini fridge in the room was completely empty not even bottled water. you needed to have your own water bottle and fill it in the lobby . I would rate this hotel as a 1 out of 5 .

Location, location, location!!! That's why we chose this hotel and it was ideal for the 9 of of us to explore Halifax by foot, especially the waterfront. One thing worth noting is that we drove an oversized vehicle that had to be parked blocks away in a public lot. That was not as convenient.
