A Great Escape

Beautiful tropical boutique hotel. Rooms are just a few feet to the pool which was so refreshing. They pics don't do this place justice. It's Indiana Jones meets a Tommy Bahama. Very cool spot within minutes to everything.

Charmin and friendly place, but not clean.

Charming, quite, small hotel. Staff is very nice, trying very hard to please you. Good Location. But the place is mismanaged badly. First off - there are no windows in the room (at least those, located downstairs) That makes room looks dark and depressing. When we moved in there was huge dead cockroach of the floor and sheet seems to have yellow stains on it. We requested to change the room and stuff was very cooperative. But the other room was not much better. The shower wasn't working, only shower in bath tab was working, but pretty badly. The room wasn't cleaned next day. the pool area was very nice. Restaurant stuff: again, very friendly, but most of menu items were missing. Coffee was great, though. Pick up from airport service was nice. The tuk-tuk driver we hired there to take us around was really, really nice.

You Get what you Pay for

There's pros and cons for sure to this place: PROS: - everything is walking distance (restaurants, King's Road, Pubstreet, National Museum, etc) - nice pool - friendly staff - free breakfast - free bottled water - tours are available - spa and massages available CONS - room is small - very hard matress - very minimalist bathroom - my friend's room had no working A/C and when she switched rooms the other room's A/C was still not cold enough So overall it was not terrible, but not comfortable as well but if you're looking for a cheap place that's central and not picky about places, this is an affordable place to get.

Could be so much better

I would say this hotel is more of a two star than a three star. The staff are really friendly but the hotel could do with a good clean and the bedding and towels have seen better days and should be replaced, I had to complain about dirty bedding. The bathroom was spacious but the bath was all scratched, the shower curtain was missing as was the hook to hang the hose up, the water pressure was dire. Breakfast is a bit hit and miss, you will get some food but maybe not what you ordered. The $6 evening meal and beer is good value, however the staff seem unclear on their "Happy Hour" policy and on more than one occasion did something completely different. I even had to tell them how much I should be paying when they over corrected an overcharge. In addition to all of this housekeeping managed to leave our (ground floor) balcony door unlocked on three occasions in a 12 day period. The side of this property is easily accessed. Having said that's it is handy for the centre, a ten minute walk away or a short tuk tuk ride away. It really wouldn't take much to bring this place to standard and if done would be a really nice hotel.

Friendly staff, but plenty room for improvements

Pro: - Friendly staffs - Free wifi anywhere in the "villa" - Nice private pool Cons: - NO complimentary area shuttle as indicated on Expedia website - Changed 3 rooms for a 4 night stay -- 1st room: heater spoil -- 2nd room: air-con leaking on 2nd and 3rd night, 4th night it died -- 3rd room: stay-able, but fan in both bedroom and shower room spoil. might be stuffy in shower room. - Breakfast menu is limited, wake up early to have wider selection - Not so clean bedsheet and pillow - Ceiling might drop mud in shower room If you are taking their tour, note that sunset will not be included if you are going for sunrise (at additional cost), unless explicitly informing the staff.

wonderful stay

It was a great stay although very short. i must say all the staff are friendly, warm and accommodating. the ambiance is very homey and the next time i'll visit Siem Reap i will definitely stay in Retreat Villa again. just a litte comment on the pool the water has very strong chlorine that hurts my eyes, but other than that, my stay was perfect! thank you Retreat Villa! Two thumbs up! :)

Nice small villa close to the old market

Villa is near the river and walking distance to the old market and PubStreet. It is also 20 minutes from Ankor Wat complex. Very convenient location. Staff is very friendly and helpful and room is clean and comfortable. The water pressure in shower is lowish but serviceable. Restaurant is good, serving delicious Khmer cuisine. Recommended.

Good value

The staff is absolutely great, very helpful and friendly. Couple of little things didn't work at the beginning (no running water in our room) but they took care of it immediately. We went up north for a trip and decided to stay in the same hotel on the way back.

Quiet hotel in the outskirts of busy town

Friendly staff and ambience of the hotel appears good but the air conditioning was bad; bathroom was clogged. Hotel needs to be upgraded, more brighter lighting.

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff

My husband and I loved this hotel. The room was gorgeous and comfortable, as were the pool and grounds, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was also good, and we were happy with the massages we got on-site as well. Overall, a great place to stay in Siem Reap, at a great value.

Disappointing, smelly n water supply is terrible.

Welcome drinks was served. Friendly staff, good job but unfortunately the Room 202 toilet facilities was bad, shower not fixed water running low. They changed me to Room 201, this room is worst, bad smelly odour with low running water, much worst as Room 202. Mosquitoes too. I don't have a good night sleep.

Value for money but...

Stayed at the Retreat Villa for 10 days on a temple exploring trip, pleasant enough overall however can be a little noisy due to the construction work right next door.

Wonderful 2 week Experience

5 STARS: I travel regularly, typically keep to myself and don't get involved, especially on working trips like this one. However my two week stay was a pleasure and I left feeling like part of the family -this never happened before. Really helpful and friendly staff who are proactive and go the extra miles as standard. I have never experienced such sincere and heart-felt 'service'. All my expectations were exceeded and the facility actually looks like the online pictures. Many hotels in Siem Reap are essentially office buildings between businesses with no gardens of silence. My sincere gratitude to Manager Mr. T and staff who transformed what could have been 'just another hotel' into a home away from home. BONUS: I got high price facilities and service all round at a low cost.

picturesque

Picturesque but facilities had much to be desired. Floors were never washed or disinfected and the shower area was slippery with old soap. Shower trickled one stream of water not a flow. Room was a deluxe upgrade as they failed to meet us at the airport. However, was very dark and only natural light came from either opening the big black door, or opening solid shutters, both of which let in the insect life. No natural lighting in bathroom. Dark grey stone inside which was probably very in keeping with the look of the room (which was probably resembling an aspect of temple look) but made a very dark and smelly area. Exhaust fan wasn't working first day until we requested an electrician to fix as couldn't stand the smell. Pool on first day was murkey but don't think it had been turned on in a few days. Came clear after a day or so.

Bad experience

Felt cheated as our intention is to stay around the night market and pub street but somehow the location indicated is wrong . It is about 30 mins walk . Hotel staff did not turn up to pick us up from the airport despite the email reply. Wifi sucks .Noisy environment from early morning with constructions on left and right of the building !

Nice little place, but NOT where the map says it i

Be aware that Retreat Villa is NOT where Hotels.com tells you it is. That is it's sister hotel called Petit Villa. Retreat Villa is actually over a mile further away from the main area approximately 200 yards after Highway 6. If we knew this, we would never have booked to stay here. Apart from this, it's a nice little place to stay with lovely pool and very helpful and friendly staff.
