Booked this hotel in part because of spa. Spa was shut down during our visit due to some issues. The hotel seems to be severely understaffed at breakfast time. It took us 30 minutes to be served coffee. Hotel location is great but hotel is worn and could
Use some updating. Definitely not a 5 star hotel.
I’ve hotel in city centre but lots of extras to pay if you want full access to spa facilities, which was disappointing. The hotel is expensive and for the price I would expect to have had it all included. When the bar closes at night at 11pm you get asked to move out of the bar area.
The property was excellent, however I was asked in an email if I had any requirements. I stated I needed Lactose free milk not Soy or Oat milk and also pre booked in another email for Spa on 17th at 5.30pm.
No milk or booking for spa. It took 24hours before milk was supplied and I pushed to have spa on day, but no spaces
Hotel is lovely.Staff are lovely.House keeping rubbish.
Food in fridge from previous guest and socks still on the bathroom floor.
Room not available till 4pm although the reception staff have really good service skills.Would I stay again.Probably not as not really acceptable for a 5 star hotel .
We loved our stay to see the Edinburgh Christmas market and castle of light display. The breakfast was amazing and the room was great for two friends with twin beds. The only downside was the pool and one spa being unexpectedly closed!
Very pleasant stay in an incredible city with lots to do

Disliked: Staff & service
Expensive room for what it is ! Facilities of spa are an addition cost (uncalled for given the cost of the room £310 a night one person !) no drinks in mini bar and no bathroom mini items like ;razor/toothbrush( I had forgotten mine !) it was very average to be honest and I wouldn’t stay again (ps on arrival the member of staff at the check in desk had long greasy hair (a man ) very unbecoming to a 5 star front of house staff
Very nice as expected with a high end property. Our view was just of the hotel courtyard which is just a car/taxi drop-off. But the location with perfect with the Edinburg Castle, shopping and the Christmas Market within a 15 minute walk. If you plan on going to the castle, there is a bit of an elevation to traverse (as in fact it is a castle) so not an easy walk for some.
Only issues during our stay was, a broken toilet seat which they fixed very fast and the room lighting. Most lights were controlled by a set of buttons and we could never figure out how to turn on the lighting where we wanted. Though I'm sure had we found instructions we could have set it perfectly.
We had a club room which worked out well as usual. The club staff were attentive and friendly. The breakfast was typical Scottish foods, which meant the only bread choices were white or brown toast bread and potato scones. There was fresh fruit including sliced melons and pineapple every day, along with scrambled eggs, sausages (including vegan) and sliced cheese and meats, along with cereals and yogurt. I would have liked some rolls or other bread selection but that doesn't seem to be a thing in Scotland.
We did not eat at the hotel restaurant as we instead tried the many restaurants nearby.
We very much enjoyed our stay, and if we return to Edinburgh will definitely stay here again.
