About this property

Secluded Bed & Breakfast Villa overlooking Magens Bay and minutes from the beach

The Dancing Orchid Bed and Breakfast Villa is secluded and peaceful, located on the Northside of St. Thomas, overlooking Magens Bay and five minutes from Hull Bay. You can watch the sunrise over Magens Bay, almost touch the pelicans as they glide past on the breeze of the tradewinds, and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean on the shoreline below. There is also a beautiful nature trail on the grounds that winds down to the shoreline.

This luxurious villa has over 2,500 square feet of interior space, with tall, wood-beamed ceilings, interior stone walls, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, custom mahogany cabinetry and woodwork, granite countertops, marble-tiled bathrooms, and mahogany furniture. An interior mahogany staircase leads to the lower level and a smaller kitchenette, with mahogany cabinetry and woodwork, granite countertops, sink, refrigerator, and microwave oven. A washer and dryer is also located on the lower level.

The Ocean Room is one of three guest rooms in the villa. It is located on the lower level and adjoins the lower level balcony that overlooks Magens Bay. The Ocean Room is quite large and has a king- sized, hand carved teak, four poster, canopy bed, as well as a writing desk and chair, a dresser, bedside tables, a large closet, a smart TV, cable, and high speed internet. There is also an air conditioner and ceiling fan in the room, even though there are near constant tradewinds.

There is a marble-tiled bathroom on each of the two levels. They are European-style bathrooms that are shared by the guests.

Start your day on the expansive upper balcony overlooking Magens Bay and enjoy a sumptuous, healthy, continental breakfast. Ingredients are often freshly picked from the garden on the grounds, which includes native bananas, papayas, pineapples, passionfruit, spinach, arugula, kale, rosemary, thyme, basil, mint, and other herbs, depending on the season. Breakfast consists of at least coffee, tea, orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, eggs, and fresh baked bread.

Our cistern water is filtered with a sediment spin-down filter, a carbon-block filter, a 5 micron sediment filter, and an ultraviolet light filter.

The grounds contain numerous native trees, bushes, and flowering plants. There are several outdoor areas that are ideal for sunbathing and star gazing, as well as relaxing with a good book in the solitude and listening to the birds and the sounds of the ocean. There are various books and games provided for adults and children during their stay. There is also an outdoor gas grill that the guests are welcome to use.

The driveway is paved and well lit with automated dusk-to-dawn lighting, and there is a paved parking area for up to three vehicles at the villa. We highly recommend that you reserve a rental vehicle for your stay. There is no Uber service in the USVI, and taxi drivers can be reluctant to come here because we are not on the main road.

We are secluded and peaceful, yet five minutes from Hull Bay. SUPs, kayaks, and snorkel gear rentals are available nearby, as well as boating, fishing, and diving charters. Magens Bay beach is a short ten minute drive. Several award-winning restaurants are located close by, and the historic town of Charlotte Amalie with its duty-free shopping, museums, entertainment, and numerous restaurants is fifteen minutes away. Ferries to St. Croix, St. John, and the British Virgin Islands are located on the waterfront in Charlotte Amalie. Ferries to St. John are also located in Red Hook, on the east end of the island, about twenty minutes away. Seaplanes to St. Croix are located on the waterfront in Charlotte Amalie. Flights to Puerto Rico and beyond can be found at Cyril E. King Airport, just west of downtown Charlotte Amalie.
There's a private balcony or patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a Smart television is provided for your entertainment. The bathroom has a shower and a hair dryer. Conveniences include a desk and a microwave, and housekeeping is provided on a limited basis.
Be sure to enjoy recreational amenities including a water park and a spa tub.
A complimentary breakfast is included.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.
A complimentary breakfast is offered.

Can’t beat the view :-)
First time to the Virgin Islands and we could not have picked a better place to stay…Mary is a wonderful hostess with extensive knowledge of the Islands that she will share. Nothing better in the morning than a cup of coffee and that balcony view. Highly recommend!

Amazing Stay!
LOVED staying here! It had that at home feel and vacation getaway, which can be a hard balance to accomplish, but they got it just right! The villa and surroundings are beautiful, and it's so reasonably priced. Mary the host had everything we needed and was so kind and welcoming . Great communication and accommodations, my only regret is I couldn't stay longer! Highly recommend spending your St. Thomas vacation here.

Amazing & Perfect Location
My husband & I loved coming home each night to relax on the huge back deck overlooking Megans Bay. Even though the days were hot on the island it was always nice & cool on the deck with the breeze. There is an air conditioner in your personal room to turn on at night. Mary cooked us breakfast each morning. I loved her omelettes!! The room was big. Mary thought of everything. We are so glad we stayed here. Location - it is central to a lot of things on the island. Bonus, you cannot beat the view over Megans Bay - incredible! It’s a little off the beaten path from the main road, but like I said, it is central to so much on the island. You will not be disappointed with your stay at this property. I am picky & very clean. This property is 5 stars in my book.

beautiful bnb villa
Stayed here for a week with my fiance and it was an incredible stay! The villa is exactly as pictured, Mary was very helpful and flexible during our stay with recommendations and flexibility, and we especially loved hanging out on the massive balcony to take in the views, breeze, salty ocean smell, and sun. Would 100% come back and highly recommend!! Only good-to-know for future travelers is the road to get to her house is long and windy with some steep inclines. Parts of the road are concrete road while other parts are gravel while other parts are dirt. We were grateful to have a jeep for it, though another couple staying there seemed fine with a standard midsize vehicle.

Amazing
Mary’s property is absolutely amazing, she is a great host, easy to communicate with. We loved the fantastic views over the gallery sleeping to the sound of the surf and breeze, it made our trip as relaxing and enjoyable as we were wishing to be. We absolutely recommend Mary’s property.

Let me begin with this - Mary is great person and it only reflects the kindness and beauty of the island life we all mainlanders can imagine. It was surreal as a kid and to come back as an adult and be as intrigued now says a lot. I'm not a touristy person and it's great that I met Mary and her place for a brief moment to meet locals even through New Years, it will be as memorable as when I first visited as a child. Will definitely visit again now that I zipped around the island in a car and was treated with nothing but respect and warmth as I expected island life must bring.

Wonderful spot for a peaceful getaway.
Beautiful property with a wonderful interior, large rooms, king-size beds, nice bathrooms and great patios overlooking the ocean. Mary was a wonderful host and made us a fabulous breakfast each morning. The only drawback is the somewhat treacherous road you have to drive on to get there, but it was well worth it to us to have such a secluded and wonderful place to stay. We would definitely stay there again if and when we get back to St. Thomas.

WOW! The Dancing Orchid was beautiful and just what my wife and I were looking for. The home is brand new, beautifully designed and perfectly situated on a jungle hillside overlooking Megan's Bay. The photos are very accurate, but they can't capture the full beauty of the experience. Mary keeps the place immaculately clean! We were there there for 5 days in February and temps were 72-82 with lovely cool breezes. We enjoyed the huge verandas and we left the windows and doors open every night for perfect sleeping. You could hear the waves crashing on the rocks below. Mary is delightful, professional and engaging, but she is very keen to only be as involved as the visitor prefers. She made wonderful breakfasts, gave us great island advice and recommendations and told us all about growing up on the island. She was very accommodating to special requests. Her sweet dog Sophie won our hearts too. If you are looking for a very quiet, peaceful, restful, beautiful out-of-the-way place that is just a short drive to anywhere on the island, then you will not find better than this. I would recommend a car for convenience. Roads are poor compared to mainland USA and steep everywhere you go (you don't need four wheel drive, our rental 4-cylinder Nissan Versa did fine). We visited 5 different beaches, but our favorite beach was Hull Bay, quiet, good snorkeling, small restaurant/bar, mostly locals, a few iguanas and mongoose, and only 5 minute drive from Mary's. Enjoy!

Enchanting
Our stay at the beautiful Dancing Orchid B and B was all we had hoped for and more. We had a huge comfortable bedroom attached to a large covered patio with breathtaking views. Mary provided us with delicious breakfasts each morning and allowed us the opportunity to just “chill” and enjoy the sun and scenery. It is more of a secluded location, with somewhat challenging roads (until you get used to them), but we were desiring quiet and privacy, so we were very happy with the location. This was our first time to St. Thomas. We were thrilled with our choice of accommodation and would happily stay again!
