Well signposted from the main road
Very friendly check-in
Rooms: really are in a medieval castle, with thick stone walls, and a warren of passages to explore. You're free to wander around the castle, inside and out, and come upon surprising lounges with huge tableaux on the walls or garden terrasses near the pool.
Our room was quite basic: no bedside table lamps, a leaky shower and very intermittant hot water supply.
But catching the sunset over the castle walls and wandering down into the little village of Nerula at dusk made up for it. There is a reasonably priced restaurant in the castle but serves things like octopus carpaccio and didn't seem to have a kids menu or vegetarian options. The pizzeria in the village was bustling and we recognised a number of hotel guests there ...
Breakfast was great: served in the old kitchens of the castle, there was a friendly atmosphere and a good choice. We were quite sorry to leave and wished we'd stayed another night.
