About this property

The Nathaniel Bowditch w/ queen bed (Inn on the Harbor)

Welcome to Inn on the Harbor - Stonington:

The Nathaniel Bowditch is a gorgeous 2nd-floor corner room with a queen bed, full bath, hairdryer, tv with cable, free wifi, microwave, small fridge, cozy sitting space, and a large window overlooking stunning harbor views allowing for the ultimate peaceful oceanside relaxation. Just a few steps outside and you have access to a semi-private deck to soak up the sunshine and rest.

In 2022, after a tough pandemic, we bumped into the opportunity to purchase this “space”. We here at Ohana Inns feel that the solace, surroundings, seabreeze, harbor, vibes, schooners, lobstering, birds and lapping waves make this one of the most beautiful places on the planet. That is what we think about this space :).

You’ll notice that each of the rooms is named after a schooner from the area. So each room is a little different in shape, size, decor, and view plane. They all share access to our centerpiece, which is the mass of deck overhanging the quintessential Maine harbor of Stonington.

We invite you, we dare you, we hope you come down and fill your cup with the Inn on the Harbor. It’s the kind of place you’ll never forget. If you are lucky enough to live within driving distance….. you’ll be back time and time again ;).

Aloha from our Ohana to yours!! We will see you soon at IOTH!

To access the property, our team will provide you with a lock code for the electronic keypad prior to your arrival.

Accessibility: All of our rooms have held shower heads. Shower chairs are available but they have to be requested prior to arrival so please let us know if you need them before your check-in.

Here you can enjoy the views, the distant foghorns, the breezes coming off of the Atlantic, the working lobster harbor right outside of your window and an authentic (not too touristy) experience. You can park the car, hop on the mail boat and hike all day on Isle Au Haut, grab some Kayaks and tool around the harbor, go see a show at the Opera House, nosh on top-rated food at the Fin and Fern, explore the quaint shops and pier and crack a nice bottle of wine on the deck at the end of the day.

Yes, you can stay here for Acadia! Yes, it's a little more of an arms-length from the craziness of Bar Harbor but we think it's the perfect home base for the REAL Acadia adventure and true 'Maine experience'.

From Stonington, you can still reach Mount Desert Island and the major Acadia attractions. Top-rated Puffin tours also leave from Stonington or you can explore the trails of Crockett Cove Woods or roam the art gardens of Nervous Nellies after buying some local jam. Inn On The Harbor, Open Hearth Inn, and The Gust House are all locally owned and operated by Ohana Inns. Ohana means family and when you stay with us you'll see why we call everyone Ohana. If you have any questions about this listing or any of our other properties, inquire or call and we will make sure to find you the best spot for your vacation/adventure.

Pet Policy:

Here at Inn On The Harbor in Stonington, we welcome your four-legged family member. However, we ask you to help us with the following pet rules while staying with us.

1. Please don't leave your pet in the rooms unattended.

Why? Because they miss you and from our experience of being professional hosts since the 90's, when they are lonely they howl or bark causing others to lose the quiet enjoyment on the property. Lonely pets also use the bed or other furniture to snuggle on while you are away. This is super tough for our housekeepers to remedy because blankets or comforters need to be washed or replaced, also furnishings can take hours to remove hair from so we can present a clean space for the next guest. Maine is a very pet friendly place and since you brought them on vacation we hope you keep them with you so they can enjoy "Vacation Land" as much as humans do.

2. Please pick up all the poop/excrement they may have.

3. Please have your pup on a leash when enjoying the common areas.

4. Please try to refrain your dog from barking.

We have supplied you with a pet basket, which includes the following.

1. A blanket to be used if your pet sleeps on the furniture or with you on the bed.

2. A towel to be used if your pet gets wet.

We have dog treats, extra poo bags and a water bowl in the common room.

*There will be an additional cleaning fee charged if your pet makes a mess of the room or the bedding. We hope that you and your four-legged family member have a great stay here at Inn On The Harbor in Stonington.

At Ohana Inns, we are available 24/7 through call, text, or email. When staying with us, you can expect total privacy but a quick and prompt response should you reach out.

Here are some good restaurants and coffee shops that you can check out: Fin and Fern, Acadia House Provisions, 44 North Coffee, Harbor Cafe, Lily's House, and Stonecutters Kitchen. (Please check off-season schedules with each restaurant. Many places could be closed during off-season months).

To do your groceries, you can go to Burnt Cove Market (about 1.5 miles away) or take a short walk to the closest market (but smaller) Harbor View Store.
Please consider bringing your specialty groceries, although we feel that the Burnt Cove market does have a pretty good selection, it doesn't have everything.

Amazing property
We really enjoyed the way this property was managed: self check in but amenities in the main room downstairs and manager available for questions and advice. The room was perfect and the large communal deck was amazing! We hope to be back!

Amazing stay!
We loved our stay here! Beautiful room, extremely clean and neat, and very comfortable. Location was excellent with parking options nearby. The downstairs cafe was always well-stocked and we appreciated all the amenities they offered. Couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Wish we could have stayed longer! Mahalo!

Great stay in cute town
The Inn is located in a cute lobster port. It was close to the location for boat rides, provisions and hikes. Was also great to have our dog with us. Very peaceful.

Charming!
We pass through town every year or so, and had seen this waterfront place many times. Finally having stayed, we can share that it is laid back, lovely, comfortable, and heavenly in that Deer Isle way. Loved it.
