Booked in the cottage, but as I was alone, I was moved to the house. Bigroom, clean and comfortable blankets etc and heater for the cold. tv unfortunatrly didnt work, so I read instrad. Friendly helpful service
For our one night stay, we got the whole cottage for our use, even though we booked for 2 adults. It came with 2 rooms. One with a queen bed, another one with 2 single beds. The queen bed is comfortable for a good night sleep. Netflix video streaming was provided for the living room TV. This is really nice to entertain us for the evening. The house is fence up and gated to give a sense of safety. But, anyway, the area is relatively safe.
Nicolette is a great host, and we did enjoy our stay a lot. It is very affordable, and the Protea room is beautiful and fully equipped. I was surprised to even see a small microwave in the room.
The breakfast was very nice, and the outside seating area is lovely, with a beautiful view of the mountains.
We will definitely go back for either the guesthouse or the self catering cottage
My wife and stayed overnight at Impangele on route towards the west coast. We had chosen arbitrarily and were abolutely delighted ! We had found a true gem. The owners have recently taken over and they are doing a fantastic job. They could not have been more obliging, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay enormously and we plan a longer stay to explore Swellendam more thoroughly next time we travel to South Africa.
We thoroughly recommend Impagnele. You will love it ! Don't hesitate.
Pleasant (one night) stay at this B&B. Dave was very accommodating, and was kind enough to prepare a take-away bag full of food to take with us in lieu of breakfast, as we had to depart very early. We greatly appreciated that.
Didn't expect very much for the price. Facilities are minimal, which is fine and at least the sheets were clean. But the cottage does feel like it needs a good clean. There is a lot of dust under the beds, on the furniture, etc. Plates in the kitchen cupboard still had food on them. No dish soap available to wash them off even. Some of the plug points weren't working.
Won't stay again. Won't recommend.
This is owned by a lovely couple who have created a welcoming home that they positively enjoy sharing. We really enjoyed the ambience and appreciated the unique decor. We wished we could have stayed longer and unreservedly recommend this place for anyone who likes staying in an individual place with special features.
We had a nice 2-nights stay at Impagnele. The place was in a nice neighbourhood, cosy, convenient and very good value for what we payed. Dave, the owner, was very hospitable and friendly, we enjoyed our stay.
Very good, basic self catering room comfortable for a family of four. Fully equipped kitchenette incl appliance, crockery, cutlery (but missing teaspoons?), pots and pans, and free wifi, decent beds and wall panel heaters in all rooms very handy in winter.
Could have provided better bathroom amenities (e.g. we had shampoo/conditioner but no soap for the basin).
Friendly staff, beautiful location and well worth stopping off on the Garden Route

Fine 3-star accommodation
Fine guest house, directly in Swellendam. Location is great, close to restaurants (The Old Mill restaurant was excellent). We were in the garden cottage, two bedrooms with kitchenette which is a fine 3-star accommodation. Owners are very friendly and helpful. One improvement that could be done is the supply of soap in the bathroom, there was none when we stayed.
We stayed in the Garden Cottage as opposed to the main house. It wasn't great. Air conditioner was broken, central fan was broken, so wasn't ideal and virtually impossible to get a good night's sleep. Place felt like it was in the middle of a refurbishment.
Some of the advertised features were a little off. Wi-Fi only available if you left the cottage and moved closer to the main house. Swimming pool advertised but really it's a converted water tank that could at best be described as a plunge pool.
Friendly, charming host of this small guest house. We felt extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of local knowledge and great enthusiasm for the area of Swellandam. The breakfast was remarkable in quality and quality and definitely was the best we experienced in the whole of our visit to South Africa, including 5* hotels!Chri
Enjoyed my stopover at Impangele and would recommend it to anyone. A little difficult to find if arriving at night but the coziness and food more than makes up for it!
More than just hosts, they make you feel like friends!
We really enjoyed our stay at Impagele. The owners (David and Amanda) clearly enjoy having guests and go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. After being shown around we were given a glass of wine and given some options as to what we could do in the evening. We were also given the opportunity of staying for a barbecue if we did not fancy eating in a local restaurant, which we ended up doing. We also met some other guests who were South African and (together with the owners) we ended up learning a lot about the country and the area. We had a much better time there than in any of the other hotels we stayed at as we felt like we were having a dinner at some friends' house. Equally, if this would not have been what you are after, you would have the option of doing what you want in town. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. There are nice walks to do in the area and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. Breakfast was very copious and very nice. Overall, the place represents very good value for money.
We have a really nice time at impangele even if for just one night. The place is peaceful and comfortable, the room was clean and large.
We recommend this place!!!
