Maianbar beachfront - birds and beach
We had a great stay at this property. Beautiful views and we loved the sound of the waves. There is beach access, but it is a little tricky - steep stairs and depends on the tide, but you can get there. So many birds! Parrots and cocatoos and kookaburras right off (or on!) the deck. Loved all of that. This is a remote property - you drive through national forest to get there. Closest grocery is 15 minutes and there are no restaurants so plan to cook. Grill is great.Possibly this is an Australian thing, so may not be unique - good to ask before you plan your meals - there were no extras at this house, no salt, sugar, oil. You need to buy/bring all that. There are no beach towels and few cleaning supplies. So just plan for that if you are flying in from overseas - just took us a little time to get settled but then it was great.Lovely house overall and very peaceful. Took the ferry to Cronulla where there is an excellent bookstore. Used the kayaks, fished, bird watched. Easy public transport to Sydney (we drove to Sutherland and caught the train - great system.
