Cheap beer at happy hour. Patrons were very respectful. Steak for dinner was exceptional. Definitely stay there again. Plus central to trains.

The price was good & location. Room was reasonably comfortable. My only complaint was noise from underground club across the road. The security(5) men stood out the front talking and laughing late into the night. Being a Sunday morning I didn't notice any road traffic noise. We loved the pub downstairs had good priced beverages.

The lift wasn’t working which sucked as I was on the top floor. Very basic but everything was clean. The shared bathrooms were clean and had good water pressure. They are also private and not far from my room. Overall great value. Also, a sweet pub downstairs and you can’t hear anything from the room.

Convenient hotel
Not easy to meet the reception, even don't have chance to ask for the wifi password and a hair dryer. Staff of the bar attached are helpful for luggage storage out of check in time. Overall, the hotel situated in a convenient place with reasonable price.

Convenient location in Sydney CBD. Budget pub accomodation as expected but even so, the ensuite bathroom was grimy and smelt mouldy. No soap provided for shower, and no bathmat for the grimy floor tiles, and which, as per the notice on the bathroom wall, took a full 10 minutes on full throttle before any hot water came through.

Good for the money, good location also
Location was great, walk to everything in the CBD including Wynyard station only being a 5 minute walk away, bed comfortable, room was better than i was expecting for the money, is above a pub but up on the 4th floor noise wasnt terrible, had a shared bathroom which was ok but a bit average when there was no hot water at 5am before an early morning flight

Great stay at the occidental for a night out in the city. Room/Beds were pretty comfy, shared bathroom relatively clean, only 2 towels supplied for 3 person booking but we managed. Cold/well priced beers and delicious food. A great stay all round.

Room is old but comfy... had everything but....TV reception via aerial was patchy, Toilet and bathroom was not attached to room...only a few steps along passage tho. Didnt really cause much grief. Room was old but clean. Would stay again

The hotel was heaving when we arrived on a Friday afternoon, which was great to see. Checked in quickly and provided keys to our 3rd floor room. We were out and about, so the busy noisy venue wasn't an issue for us (mostly). You can hear street noise and you are able to access a private door after hours. You are getting what you pay for and I was happy with that!

Enjoyed our stay at this property for the 1 night layover before we boarded our cruise. Good central location right opposite Wynyard train station. Close to Westfield, and convenience stores for that late night snack. For an old pub we were surprised with our 4 rooms, very tidy and clean and good space, helpful staff and the bag drop was a big help. We would stay here again if I needed somewhere central to the city. Toilets and showers were conveniently located near our rooms. Was warm and cosy despite the rain outside.

Great bar scene. Wish the rooms and facilities were in a better condition. Cleanliness was good except in the shower areas. Broken windows, split door facings, leaky air conditioner/heater, and broken/missing hardware make this place less desirable. Staff was welcoming but unavailable overnight when the heater decided to rain in my room. A solid 3 out of 5, would give more if the facilities were better up kept.

Amazing location. Although the room was clean and non smoking it felt like the room had been inhabited by a chain smoker for a few hundred years. Unfortunately enough to set off my asthma. Shared bathroom facilities. Well priced though and walkable to shops, dining and transport options.
