Weeklong Couple Stay
Casa 5 is possibly the best situated house in Buena Vista. It was relatively private and had a nice lake view. The kitchen was well stocked and the bedrooms had ample drawer space as well as plenty of hangers. The space was open and comfortable.

Kyle was a great host. He even introduced us to several of his friends in the area that were great to discuss what living there is like. Extremely fun, unexpected experience. Will definitely stay there again. The fire pit is incredible!

Quiet retreat
This property had everything we needed as we set out to explore the lake Arenal and surrounding area of Costa Rica. The porch was perfect for morning coffee and reading a book. The property was clean and easy to get to. It was a bit of a drive to a lot of activities but it was so nice to have a secure, quiet place to come home to each day. Highly recommend for one or two couples.

Nice stay by the lake

Lovely property
This is a great property with a spectacular view. It's a short distance to 2 small towns and very private. Joanie and Kyle were very responsive to all our needs. If you're looking for a place in Costa Rica to get away from it all and just relax, this is the place!

Costa Rica Lake House
We had a great first time visit to CR. The property manager checked us in and gave us everything we needed for a great stay. When the water heater broke and could not be immediately repaired she helped us move into a neighboring property which suited us just fine. The are in which this property is located is beautiful. Friendly people. If you stay here you will want to try the little restaurant between the speed bumps in the little town you will drive through getting to the house. Thanks to Joann for making us feel welcome

This property is beautiful and well maintained! We had an excellent time on our four night stay!
This is an excellent home that is comfortable and in a quiet, safe complex. The view is wonderful and so are the neighbors. We saw many different types of birds every day and awoke to the sounds of nature! Just perfect! The manager, Joanne, is quick to respond, took excellent care of the little needs we had, and was super friendly when we met her. We felt like we were meeting an old friend! All four of us would stay here again in a heartbeat! Pura Vida!

Excellent rental for the price!!
Early on had some snags with communication due to email glitch and caretaker illness but it all worked out just great! Very comfortable for our family of 4 ( 2 adults and a 19yo and 16yo). Kitchen adequately supplied. Internet worked well (especially for CR!) . The house’s deck and the club house pool were super but we used them far less than we thought we would due to wind, clouds and mist the whole week over the lake. We ended up driving a lot to get to outings and seek sun. Would recommend to another group of 4! Thank you so much!

The Perfect Costa Rican Get-away
This is the perfect get-away from the mass tourism of Costa Rica's coastal areas. Such a lovely, very comfortable house with everything we needed to make us feel right at home. The views of Lake Arenal and the surrounding mountainous countryside were beautiful, and there was always a breeze to keep the temperatures just right. Being at the far end of this gated community that included a very nice pool, offered tranquil privacy which we loved, and the constant presence of Toucans, Parrots and so many other exotic birds just made our day. Only 15 minutes away from good supermarkets, and with day-excursions to nearby nature reserves and other activities really made this the ideal holiday location. Joannie, the property manager was always available and so kind and helpful which just added to our overall enjoyment. We'll be back!! Fiona & Paul St. Clair

Beautiful home on a beautiful lake.
The house was everything represented by the owner. The Owner's manager, Joanie was very helpful and a real joy. We loved the house and the location. We would definitely go back to this house. We throroughly enjoyed it. The house is well equipped and it was very clean. There is one caveat though, the road around Lake Arenal back to LaFortuna is in horrible shape and is dangerous to drive after dark. If you go to LaFortuna - get back before dark.

Beautiful property with a great view
We rented Casa 5 for the month of August and truly enjoyed our time here. Joann was very helpful with pointing out places to eat and suggesting things to do, and quick to respond when we needed assistance. The housing development was very quiet - perhaps because it was the rainy season when fewer people visit Costa Rica. We loved sitting outside on the porch and watching the birds, listening to the howler monkeys in the distance, and enjoying the sounds of the farms across the bay. We frequently saw or heard kiskadees, toucans, oropendolas, and vultures. It's breezy outdoors, but that keeps the mosquitoes away and the temperatures comfortable. There are several good restaurants within a 20-minute walking distance (or 5-minute drive) - Gutierrez Family Pizzeria, La Pasadita, and Brisas del Lago. Tronadora (about 10 minutes away) is charming - and we recommend getting meats from the carniceria and breads from the panaderia there. Tilaran is about a 15-minute drive away and has banks, larger grocery stores, the bus station, but we didn't find any restaurants better than the ones in Puerto San Luis - see above. The restaurant at the Hotel Guadalupe was quite good. The house is well maintained and clean, the refrigerator is huge, the stove worked great. The pots and pans were adequate. The queen bed was quite comfortable and the roomy shower had reliable hot water. The TV gets several English-language channels. The wifi was fast and robust, despite frequent rain and thunderstorms. We only used the fans a few times - with open windows (with screens) and breezes, the house stayed comfortable all day long. The house is in a good location, even though it is somewhat distant from the main tourist areas of Lake Arenal. It's a 90-minute drive around the north side of the lake to La Fortuna. There are several good restaurants along the lake as well. We took the local bus from Tilaran to Monteverde and spent a couple of nights there - the bus was cheap (about $2.00 per person one way), but took 2.5 to 3 hours to go 26 miles. We drove to Santa Rosa National Park - about 2 hours driving. And it was about a 90-minute drive to get to Tenorio National Park, where you can see the robin's egg blue Rio Celeste. Be sure to stop at the overlook above Lake Arenal - on the road between Tilaran and La Fortuna - just past the turnoff to Tronadora. We actually walked there from the house - it was about a 40-minute walk one way.

Beautiful Scenery!
My wife and I shared this property with another couple for a recent vacation and had a great time! The scenery was amazing as you step out and look at the lake and volcano. We had everything we needed for our stay and the property manager was amazing as she assisted us with places to shop and eat. The owner Kyle went the extra mile to ensure we had plenty of fans to help keep us cool. While there we visited Rio Celeste and drove around the lake to see the sites. Beautiful country, amazing local food and super people made for a memorable trip.

Excellent House!
Thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Great location with a fantastic view. It is as comfortable and appointed as advertised. The community is quiet with a nice pool, if that's what you're looking for. Also, fairly centralized on the lake so you're really only an hour or so from the activities around the volcano or the Pacific coast. Joannie, the property manager, could not have been more helpful or a nicer person. She really put us on to some outstanding "comida typica". Kyle, the owner, made the entire process easy from confirmation through completion of the stay. I highly recommend. There's also a good brewery on the road to La Fortuna!

Very beautiful place next to the lake
This place is a newly renovated place with all the luxury you need. The house sits next to the lake, great if you want to spend time on the lake and enjoy a peaceful tranquil place. The only issues we had were no cable tv in the rooms and it's a drive to the volcano and hot springs. Took us an hour to hour and a half to get there. Which is ok, the view is beautiful and we stopped along the way to eat and shop. I highly recommend this place to stay, very nice scenery and quiet, safe place. People that live around there and in town are very friendly. We enjoyed our stay tremendously! Thanks to all who were involved, we would stay again if we ever head back to Costa Rica! Beautiful home in a great location.
This spacious home is beautiful, comfortable, and well maintained. The large, central room with its high ceilings, cupola, and array of floor to ceiling windows is breathtaking! There is a great view of Lake Arenal. A previous poor review indicated some problems with cleanliness, upkeep, and access to the property. Kyle was very understanding of our concerns and assured us that we would have no issues since there was a new property manager. Kyle was right! Everything was fine. Nor did we have any difficulty gaining access to the gated community. Kyle provided us with gate codes ahead of time, as well as contact information for himself and Joanie, the property manager, in the event of any problem. Be advised that the houses on the street are not numbered. This house is set back from the road, and the grass driveway is right beside the green paved drive. Joanie was at the house to meet us on our arrival and to see us off. She was very accommodating and always available on short notice. We were delighted with the brand new BBQ. The weather was generally low to mid 20’s C, and very windy every day - perhaps a bit too windy, especially for swimming which we had hoped to do. But the location of this property is excellent. It is centrally located to be within a reasonable (up to 1.5 hours) drive of many attractions, including Arenal Volcano, Monte Verde Cloud Forest Reserve, Palo Verde National Park (where we saw monkeys), Rio Celeste (turquoise water), and Llano de Cortez waterfall (where we swam in a pool at its base!) Make sure you go to the nearby Brisas del Lago restaurant. It is one of the best restaurants we have been to – ever! We would definitely recommend a visit here.

Great view! Easy drive to coast, la fortuna, grocery, restaurants. Need a car...we had small economy
Joannie's mom met us at house. Her son helped us with luggage. Liberia airport a little over an hour away on good roads. Overlooks lake. Can walk to restaurant if you are in shape. Grocery also. Joannie's response was quick when needed. Stayed 2 weeks and made a good home base. Would stay again.

STAY AWAY!!!
This adventure began with a carefully planned 3 night stay. We confirmed our reservation multiple times with Kyle, the owner, despite problems we noticed with previous reviews about this condo and keys. We felt that the venue was perfect so we booked it anyway. What a disaster! We arrived at 6:10pm from the USA and NO keys were available at the gate as guaranteed. After arguing with the guard ,a merciful neighbor Rand, authorized our entry at 8:30pm. The condo, to our surprise, had much deferred maintenance, including wobbling three bladed ceiling fans, NO Wifi as advertised, NO toilet paper, not even one sheet!, empty soap dispensers in both bathrooms, NO paper towels, a nonfunctional safe, old ratty bath towels, NO wash cloths and a gross toilet seat in the master bathroom surrounded by old nasty bath rugs.In addition, there were NO condo instructions in the unit. Daniella the manager was NOWHERE to be found! After numerous complaints using the neighbor's Wifi on the other side of the community to contact Kyle and Daniella directly, a relative of Daniella's showed up the next night with some very needed supplies and an apology. Too little, too late since we had already gone out to buy the desperately needed basic supplies ourselves, the night before. We finally did hear from Kyle on the third day since we had no Wifi to communicate with him! He instructed us to either wait for Daniella to show up or to vacate the condo by leaving the key on the kitchen counter. We waited until 11am and finally left disgusted since she never showed! We videoed the entire condo to prove that we left it better condition than we received it, left all the new supplies on the counter, and closed the door leaving the property UNLOCKED! This did not make us feel comfortable! Kyle apologized via email and credited our account for one lousy night. He also offered us a discount of $200.00 off our next stay. Yeah right! A vacation, especially an international one that was well planned and confirmed, should have gone smoother than this disaster. So much for a relaxing weekend! Please take our advice and FIND YOURSELF ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY!

Nice property in a gated community
We spent a week at this property in February. It is nicely furnished and representative of the pictures shown. The WI-FI worked great the entire time we were there. There are a couple of nice restaurants just up the road. The one drawback was that no one met us there on our arrival. A guard let us in and left us the key. It would have been nice to have someone explain how things work, although we managed without too much trouble.

Air fresheners were overpowering. Beautiful home and the landscaping immaculate.
We asked for information that we did not get. We could not get in touch with the property manager when we arrived in the vicinity. There was no information provided about the area Or checkout. The house was advertised to have wifi. We did have wifi for the full three nights we were there, even though we contacted the property manager. Although the property is remote and beautiful, we will not come for another vacation here.

Tranquil beauty
If you are looking for a quiet retreat, this is it! The gated community is tucked out of the way in a quiet setting, yet it is easy to get to. We were greeted at the gate by the grounds keeper who took us to the house. The beds were very comfortable, and sleep 4 with ease. The appliances are top end (although we did not use the laundry or dishwasher) Kyle is very helpful and quick at responding to questions or problems. He has a local contact who handles any issues during your stay. We would recommend this home to you, especially if you are seeking a quiet get away. We took day trips to Rio Celeste, the Monteverde Coffee Tour, and Los Lagos for a canopy tour and hot springs. Each was around an hour and a half away, but the drive is beautiful. We would not recommend Monteverde from this location (the tour was great) only because we traveled over an hour on rutty dirt roads. We are putting this location in our file for a possible return trip!
