The Area:
The greater Trinity Bight area consists of twelve distinct communities located on the Bonavista Peninsula in Trinity Bay. Founded in 1615, picturesque Trinity is at the center of this remarkable and authentic area. Among the best-preserved historic towns in Newfoundland - with many buildings unchanged since the 18th century - it thrives as a home to writers, artists and performers, as well as the families and descendants of its earliest settlers. This history and culture combined with amazing wildlife and outdoor experiences has created a unique destination that attracts an interesting seasonal population and global contemporaries who come, experience and return again and again!
The Bonavista Peninsula itself hosts wide array of natural and historic attractions suitable for adventurers and those seeking more relaxed experiences. An exciting recent addition has been Discovery Geopark which has received a UNESCO World Heritage Designation for providing some of the best examples of the oldest fossils in the world. Because of its pristine nature, striking landscapes and authentic communities, the area has become a popular backdrop for the film industry, the latest being Disney's Peter Pan!
