LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION on DONNER LAKE, TRUCKEE: enjoy it's pristine beauty all year round! Donner Lake is called the "Jewel of Tahoe" because it’s so clean and unspoiled. SUMMER: has lots of lake activities and we also have a seasonal dock (Memorial Day - Labor Day) and a slip for your boat or you can rent at boat at the marina right on the compound. They rent all sorts of water-crafts from jet skies to paddle boats to ski boats and party boats. More info on request.

Occasionally a train goes by across the lake on the mountainside and it's great to see and hear as it charges along.

WINTER: we have four major ski resorts nearby, some smaller ones and some cross country locations too. Sugar Bowl is the closest major resort and it was the first in CA 1937, 10 minute drive, Squaw Valley, North Star and Alpine Meadows, 15 - 20 minute drive. There's a smaller, easier, less expensive one close by across from Sugar Bowl called Donner Ski Ranch and the rustic/casual restaurant there also, open almost year round. Lots of sledding all around the area. More info upon request.

Lakeside Pub, just two blocks west of us is a great place to get a bite to eat year round along and a seasonal, cute little ice cream and tacos parlor across the street from us and a small convenience store too.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES: Besides the lake, Casino's, 30 minute drive, Donner Memorial State Park and museum, 5 minutes, Reno Nevada, 40 minutes and Lake Tahoe, 30 minutes. Kids zone in town with lots of activities. 6 miles of abandoned train tunnels with artwork on the walls from artists all over the world, 10 minutes. Hiking trails everywhere. Besides our private beach, 1/4 mile away is the lakes largest public beach and there's a tennis and pickle ball court there too. Organized rafting down the Truckee river or go it on your own.

THE LAYOUT: We have two bedrooms with two and a half bathrooms and a loft. Both bedrooms have balconies off them. Baths have a total of 3 sinks, 3 toilets, 1 double wide shower and 1 shower/tub combo. One bedroom has a Cal King "SIeep Number" mattress with fully adjustable firmness control, perfect for people with bad backs and for those who like their bed, "juuust right". The other bedroom has an extra long Single over a Queen. Also a third folded single bed. Our townhouse sleeps up to 8 adults, with two to a bed.

KITCHEN is fully equipped with service for 8. Coffee maker (no grinder), toaster oven, 4 slice bagel and bread toaster, 2 "Crock Pots" (one large, one small), plenty of pots and pans, stainless steel double oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge and newer washer dryer.

MORE TO DO:

HISTORIC OLD TOWN TRUCKEE: is a 10 minute drive along the lake where you'll find quaint little shops to browse through with wooden boardwalks and restaurants of the old west from "a time gone by". People love visiting this part of town. Check out the great visitor center too at the train station with plenty of brochures and info on things to see and do in the entire North Shore Tahoe region from Train rides to whitewater rafting, to skydiving and much much more. The passenger train passes through daily for travelers getting on and off in Truckee then it continues on to Reno Nevada. One of our favorite large restaurants is "Bar of America" for food, drinks and live music on weekends. It's quite a happening place! There's also a wine bar across the street and many, many other places to dine.

MODERN TRUCKEE as we call it, is a 6 minute scenic drive along the lake where you'll find large chain stores for grocery, pharmacy, hardware, firewood, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food places and more. One of our favorite restaurants there is Taco Jalisco's for excellent, casual, authentic, fresh MEX. (located next to the 7-11 store)

During difficult times things can change rapidly. If you think you may have to cancel your trip due to covid or otherwise, we suggest you purchase “travelers insurance” so you are covered. Referral insurance co. upon request.

WORK from our place via our strong WIFI with Zoom and with conferencing capability.

FALL and SPRING is when it quiets down on the lake. You'll have it pretty much to yourself. It’s a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of serenity on the lake. There's really no way to describe it, you just have to experience it for yourselves. It truly is a beautiful spot.

HOLIDAYS: 3 night minimum on Labor Day, Thanks Giving, Presidents Day, MLK, Memorial Day and 4th of July requires a 4 night minimum.

Rates may change at any time unless you already have a reservation.

Our rates include up to 4 people, additional people are $50/night plus city tax.

Maximum occupants is 8, all ages count. The minimum age of the responsible party must be at least 28 years of age for men and 26 for women. Early arrival and late departures may be available for an additional 40/hour fee if housekeeping can arrange their schedule to accommodate you. Plz make those requests early for your best chance of success.

HANDICAPPED: Unfortunately, our condo is probably not accessible to lower extremity handicapped people because our entrance is up a flight of stairs to the second floor and no elevator.

Our condo is "rustic" and we like it b/c it's different than our house in suburbia. We truly hope you will enjoy yourselves by making yourself at home in our cozy, comfortable and rustic condo.

Would recommend!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The location can’t be beat. Everything you could ever need is within 10 minutes, whether the Sugar Bowl resort or the nearby town. The place is rustic but that’s part of its charm! Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well stocked, and the view of Donner Lake is unreal. Tor is a great host, who was great about keeping in touch but not overbearing at all. We hope to have a chance to stay here again!

A delightful stay at Donner Lake
We had a lovely mini vacation at the condo on Donner Lake. Our three night stay was very enjoyable. The condo offers a large deck overlooking the lake, and a very cozy and charming interior. The 2 bedrooms upstairs had very comfortable beds; the living room and dining area had wonderful light and views of the lake, great for visiting and relaxing. The kitchen was well appointed with everything needed for cooking and dining. The location of the condo was perfect, a short drive to the town of Truckee, parks and restaurants. The condo was well built and in perfect condition. We had a delightful stay, and hope to return some day.

Lakefront getaway!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The convenience can’t be beat - lakefront, private beach and swimming area, a boat slip, trailer parking, etc. For our two families (with two toddlers in tow), that was most important to us and it delivered. Tor was very communicative and gave clear instructions to guide our stay.

Great Location with everything we needed.
We take an annual trip to Donner to enjoy the lake before kids head back to school. Our kids are college age and high school and we all thought this was the best location of all. We found the condo to be very clean, comfortable and the kitchen to have everything we needed to eat in. Our only regret was we didn't have another few days to enjoy the Lake.

Perfect Spot
This 2 bedroom condo is a great place to stay for its convenient location on Donner Lake and its relaxing views from the balcony. Bring your binoculars! The space is great for two couples or a small family with two bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs along with the TV and a comfy seating area. The main level with the kitchen, dining and expansive seating and 1/2 bath has two large glass sliders which provide great views from inside and easy access to the balcony. From the condo complex, it is a short walk to the pub, ice cream store and the public beach. The owner, Tor, was easy to work with and very responsive to our questions at all times. We wouldn't hesitate to rent this place again.

Wonderful vacation
We have stayed at the Donner Lake Village before and this property has been the best! It is so comfortable with the amazing views of the lake. The kitchen is unbelievably outfitted with every convenience, including an array of kitchen utensils, including an ice maker. The views from the deck - morning or evening add to the relaxation. We did rent kayaks and paddled down the creek, so beautiful in that area. Thanks for a much needed vacation in your beautiful condo!! The Minnich's

Alpine luxury waterfront unit is a gem
If you are lucky, the stars will align, and your calendar will synchronize, granting you the opportunity to enjoy a magical experience on the shores of Donner Lake. This is one of the best places to be, sitting on the upper deck early in the morning, around sunrise, is truly a captivating moment. As the initial rays of daylight emerge, they reveal a glassy, mirror-like surface, which is only slightly rippled by the graceful movements of a family of geese gliding by. A lone fisherman casts a lure, hoping to entice a rainbow trout, while the splash from a diving osprey, eager for its next meal, punctuates the tranquil scene. From the living room, you can gaze upon the historic train tracks and snow sheds that traverse the 8,000-foot summit of the Sierra Nevada range at Donner Pass. Directly in front of the unit, there is nothing but the serene waters of the lake, a private dock, and an enclosed swimming area with steps leading up to the sandy beach. The luxuriously rustic interior of the unit features high ceilings supported by massive beams, custom pine cabinets in the kitchen, and a breathtaking wall of glass overlooking the captivating lake.

Donner Lake Life!
We discovered this new to the market gem while looking for a place for our annual Nana and Papa getaway with our two grandsons. The condo was perfect for our wants and needs. The condo is right on the water with 180 degree fabulous views. Docks are available, but we only used them for fishing from this trip! Successfully I might add! The mountain cabin furnishings were perfect for the location and very comfortable, with plenty of space for the 4 of us to spread out. Bedrooms were comfortable and had plenty of storage to unpack and feel at home. Kitchen was well appointed. All appliances were in great working order. It is felt isolated from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to gather groceries, eat out if needed, grab gas on the way home, etc. We took advantage of some local activities (Donner Memorial Museum and nearby hiking trails, found the trailhead to the abandoned train tunnels and walked through several of those to add a real life perspective to our young grandsons about life before the internet and what hard work and determination can accomplish). We had a great stay and would go back again. Tor was very accessible, answered any questions that came up and gave us good suggestions for activities in the area. Don’t miss a walk across the street to the ice cream shop! Great trip full of memories with our “grands”! P. S. Very friendly neighbors too! Many thanks for sharing your private getaway with our family. The Orcutts
