I had really high hopes for Hotel McCoy, but my experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. My room was located at the very back of the property, away from nearly all other guests, which already felt odd. When I entered, the window was open, and the room didn’t match the description I booked. The bathroom conditions were unacceptable. The toilet seat was very loose and felt like it was about to fall off. Several towels looked dirty—one even had a small blood stain—and one towel literally tore apart while I was using it, as if it were dry rotted. The tub and shower walls were covered in pubic hair, which made it clear the room had not been cleaned properly at all. I notified the front desk, but I made it clear I wasn’t asking to be moved or refunded. Their only response was, “I’m sorry.” Then, at 5:20 AM the next morning, I received a text saying I had been moved to the room next door and to transfer my things to my “new clean room.” Ironically, when I checked, another guest was sleeping in that room. When I returned later that afternoon, I tried to enter my original room to get my belongings, but I had been locked out. A staff member had to walk to unlock the door so I could retrieve my things and finally move to the room next door. This stay was frustrating, uncomfortable, and the lack of proper cleanliness and communication was surprising for a hotel with such a positive reputation. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would not stay here again.
