For those who haven’t been to Venice, it will take some doing to get to the hotel. You have to take a water bus to either the Rialto or San Marco exits and walk a good ways hauling luggage. It was pouring rain when I arrived so this was not a pleasant experience. If you are physically challenged in any way (and can’t haul luggage up stairs), then this is not the location for you.
I arrived late (after midnight) and the man at the desk didn’t have a reservation for me. I produced my printed confirmation and then he magically came up with a room. Service at the front desk was not very helpful.
The room itself is extremely small and the bed is minuscule. I am only 5’8” and my feet were hanging off the end of the bed. The bathroom is equally tiny.
The free breakfast in the morning is decent. Nothing fancy, but yogurt, cereals, pastries, some cheeses, etc. Coffee cups in all of Italy are designed to hold about 2 tablespoons of liquid. You will barely get one gulp per cup.
Overall, it’s OK, and it is in a great location several blocks from St. Mark’s, but if you are used to staying at really nice hotels, this has more of the vibe of a youth hostel. By comparison, I went on to Pordenone where I had a lovely hotel for half the price.
