Stayed one night with a party of 3 in 2 rooms. Booked Hotel Katla for its proximity to Vík and our ice cave tour. Its location, cleanliness of the room, and varied continental breakfast are the only perks of the hotel. However, the layout of the breakfast is ill-conceived and chaotic. The geothermal pool and sauna were tepid. Our rooms were freezing, and the bathrooms were designed by an imbecile. TIP: shift the towel rack so that the door opens fully. The staff at reception (evening, 25th of Oct 2024) were, frankly, unhelpful and incompetent. It's mind-boggling that Vík is well-known as the wettest place in Iceland, yet the hotel has no facilities for drying clothes or warming guests. Suffice it to stay that we'll never stay in a Keahotels property again.
