Lovely old house with character in rural location; own vineyards supply wine for restaurant. Very helpful staff (all family) speak excellent English and extremely helpful. 25 minutes from airport via Motorway or quiet country roads.
I enjoyed the friendly staff, the history of the place and the serenity of the views. Manolo’s friendliness and passion for storytelling are simply fantastic!
What an amazing place. We didn't want to stay in the middle of Satiago, so picked this gem of a vineyard hotel a few miles outside the city. The hotel is full of history and the owner will give you a wonderful story of its history and the vineyard. The rooms are very comfortable and completely in keeping with the age of the building. The lounge area is beautifully appointed and great for a pre dinner drink.
We are there twice and on both occasions the food was wonderful. However you must try their wines - the Albarinos were amazing. Luckily we had our car so were able to bring some home.
Oasis of tranquility a close distance from Santiago de Compostela. Beautiful gardens and vineyards, delicious breakfast. Unfortunately it was just a one-night-stop, so we left with some bottles of albariño and a promise to come back soon
Had a very enjoyable stay with my daughter. Hotel in historic building with all modern conveniences and very well kept. Private and public spaces all were great. Our balcony looked out over the vineyard to mountains in the distance. Great base for exploring Galicia, close to Santiago de Compostela, and both coasts. Close to main road for access yet very quiet - slept with windows open. The restaurant is excellent and the (very) local wine is great. I usually try to sample a variety of restaurants, but with all the restaurants of Galicia in reasonable proximity, we wound up eating at the hotel every night. Staff very accommodating, helpful, and friendly. Treated us like royalty (or at least aristocracy). Cannot recommend strongly enough.
When we arrived at the Pazo we were made to feel most welcome. Our room was furnished in a delightful manner with all facilities. We had lunch of salad and pate which was well presented. The owner spoke perfect English and was most obliging, and also gave us a complementary tour of the vineyard and talk on the history of the pazo. We ate in the restaurant at night, the food and the wine (from the vineyard) was delicious, and the cost was very reasonable for the quality we received. The as a most pleasant experience and enjoyable stay.
We had only booked one night...a pity we didn't know how spectacular this place and its staff were, or we'd booked for longer. A very homely hotel - more like a B and B, with parking at the door and the largest room we've ever stayed in! Night time meal was the best we'd had on this trip and included breakfast very good when compared to elsewhere we've experienced in Spain. Close enough to Santiago to make multiple trips if necessary.
The owner and staff were impeccably gracious. Our room was spacious and beautiful, superior double with twin beds; one big bed would've been nicer. Food not fabulous, especially after all the memorable meals throughout Spain. What is excellent is the tranquil haven near a bustling tourist attraction.
Would highly recommend this property. This was our best stay on the camino. House is amazing as are the grounds and vineyards. Beautiful views. Food and breakfast in particular was outstanding. Homemade bread, cakes etc. owner manolo puts a lot of work and effort into running everything. He also gave us a tour of his vineyards which was very interesting and their wines have won several awards all of which we sampled at dinner!! We loved our stay here and could not recommend it highly enough. It is also extremely reasonable and more like a parador than a hotel.
This was the best place we stayed in Spain
An excellent find through trip advisor reviewers and didn't let us down.
An excellent family run vineyard with great food in beautiful surroundings combined with a history lesson on wine making in the area and a chance to try it out in the sunny outdoor courtyard. Could have stayed a week.
Would highly recommend to anyone
Booking; friendly welcome
Room: spacious, clean, great views, quiet
Owner: friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, keen to explain many things without being obtrusive
Food: good value for money, excellent Albarino wines
Location: handy for Santiago de Compostela
After 5 weeks of travel this was our best stay by far. Facilities are excellent but the shining star is the treatment that is provided by the staff. My wife and I felt like royalty. The food and the wine are also superb.
We stayed here for 1 night b4 we toured Santiago de Compostelos. This is a gem. It is a 15 - 20mins drive but it is worth. Beautiful balcony to wake up too as well as complimentary breakfast! For the price of 75 Euros it was a bargain!
We stayed here overnight and it was a good experience. We also dined in-house and had a lovely meal. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed.we had trouble finding the hotel initially as we didn't realise you only need to enter Pazo de Galegos into to the GPS. If you enter the full name given it can't be found.
We wanted a hotel which was outside Santiago and came across Pazo de Galegos. It was a wonderful stay for 3 nights. We ate at the Hotel each night because the food was excellent and very reasonable. As the hotel is set within its own vineyard, a bottle of red wine with the meal was a must!
We would certainly visit again if we were visiting that part of Spain and would definitely recommend to our friends.
Our experience at Pazo de Galegos was the best a traveler could expect anywhere. The beautiful country house has been converted to an intimate but elegant hotel. The food and wine were wonderful and plentiful. The family who operate the hotel are gracious, informative, friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and satisfying. Thank you very much Manuel and Antonio and the rest of the family for making our visit to Galecia a memorable one.
The place is very nice. However, being the only tourists staying at the time, it was little lonely. You could not even see the service personnel at their work.
This is a really excellent small hotel (just 9 rooms). The building is a beautifully converted manor house with every comfort provided in the individually decorated bedrooms and communal areas. Also a working winery, it produces its own award winning Alborino white wine. Breakfast (included) is substantial and delicious - including wonderful home-made local delicacies. There is also a limited, but excellent, dinner menu - again featuring local cuisine. Antonio, the host, is extremely charming, informative and helpful - he also speaks perfect English having spent his childhood in Canterbury, England.
