Please note: This accommodation is NOT suitable for those looking for a 5-star hotel or ultra-modern facilities. Avoid disappointment and book a different accommodation.
Hütte Harzilein is intended for those people who are looking for that different thing, that special thing, that authentic thing. For people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, something different from the dime a dozen hotel rooms and who are looking for the charm of the atmosphere of yesteryear. If you are visiting the land of Grimm’s fairy tales, the enchanting German Harz Mountains, spend the night in Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother’s hut.
Enjoy nature in this unique tiny house: Hütte Harzilein offers everything you need for a romantic stay in the German Harz area. This 175 year old small half-timbered house with the mountain atmosphere of Bayern but situated in the Harz, has a cozy living room with a wood stove, a kitchenette, a king-size 2-person loft box bed, complete bathroom with rain shower and an entrance with stove. Behind the Hütte, against the mountain, is a spacious backyard with terraces (with outdoor furniture, a swingseat and a barbecue) and magnificent views over the village.
The Hütte is suitable to live in with 2 adults, possibly with a baby or toddler (for which we can provide a travel cot and/or high chair free of charge on request). The sofa can also be converted into a double bed (140cm wide), so a maximum of 4 people can stay in the Hütte. However, with over 2 people you have virtually no room to move around inside, so we can only recommend this if you intend to use the Hütte as a place to sleep only and you’re out during the day(s). Dogs are allowed for a surcharge of 10 Euros per night.
Hütte Harzilein is located in the mountain village of Zorge, a picturesque town with mostly half-timbered houses located in the valley of the river Zorge, with mountains on both sides of the valley. The area is ideal for walking, hiking, biking and mountainbiking in all seasons. There is a local bakery and a few restaurants on walking distance, and in the summer the village has a large outside pool. In the winter the ski slopes can be found in the neighboring towns of Hohegeiss, Braunlage and Sankt Andreasberg, the furthest is reachable within 25 minutes.
Layout
From the street you reach the Hütte via a private entrance. Behind the front door is a small wooden hallway through which you enter the house. In this portal you will find a mirror and cupboard space, as well as a small fridge (with mini freezer area), a combi microwave/oven and a 2-burner induction stove for your meal preparation. If you want to cook on the table, both a gourmet and a fondue set are available for you to use as well.
Through an interior door you enter the living area of the house, where there is a lounge area for 4 people with an HD TV with 300+ satelite channels, a dining table for 4, a wood stove and a kitchenette. Above the lounge area is the loft with a 2-person king-size bed which can be reached via a wooden ladder. In a separate side room is the compact but complete bathroom with rain shower, toilet, washbasin with mirror and a hair dryer.
Behind the Hütte is a 1000 m2 backyard that rises steeply against the slope and borders (with direct access to) the (fairytale) forest at the rear. A zigzag path leads up the slope and there are several furnished terraces, with a gas barbecue for outdoor cooking. From these terraces, especially higher up in the garden where the swingseat is located, you have a magnificent view over the village and the valley.
