Comfortable, stylish property with all the comforts of home. The Burrow can accommodate up to 4 guests in 2 separate bedrooms (Queen in main + Double in 2nd bedroom). Lounge has TV & views of both the lake & Mt Bischoff. Kitchen is complete with small appliances, full sized fridge & standard stove/oven. The updated bathroom provides all the essentials & laundry facilities are available.
Perfectly located only 50m to lake and playground.
45 mins to Cradle Mountain.
The Burrow is our home away from home - this is where we come to get away and we like to think it is quiet, clean, comfortable and cosy.
We have it family friendly and that includes having our fur-baby Luna travel with us. We have both the small back yard and the front yard fully fenced for this reason. We understand how important our pets can be and will consider other pets staying at The Burrow (OUTDOORS ONLY) - please ask prior to confirm suitability.
COMFORT -
Both bedrooms have individual heat pumps (split system air conditioners) allowing guests to keep their rooms at a comfortable temperature throughout the night. These will also keep the house cosy at other times if the bedroom doors are left open.
TV - TV reception is great and crystal clear with standard free-to-air channels.
ENTERTAINMENT - There are also a few DVD's, books and board games available to keep you entertained, but with so much to see in Waratah and Cradle Mountain so close by we doubt you will get bored.
LAUNDRY - The laundry is equipped with a washer and dryer (please supply your own washing powder) - there is also an external clothes line and a clothes airer for your use. There is also an iron and ironing board if needed.
PHONE RECEPTION - In Waratah phone reception is great, you will lose signal on your way to Burnie or Cradle Mountain though.
WIFI - Sorry, we don't have wifi at The Burrow and use our mobile phones to hotspot if needed. There is however FREE WIFI located in the centre of town if you need it.
BATHROOM - Guests are provided with towels etc for their stay and basic supplies are also found in the bathroom (Bodywash, Shampoo, Conditioner, Lotion). A hair dryer is also available for your convenience.
KITCHEN - We supply Tea, Coffee and Sugar for our guests. The kitchen is equipped with Kettle, Toaster, Microwave, Mixer, Full Sized Fridge, Stove/Oven, Plates, Bowls, Cups, Glasses, Cutlery etc.
Waratah is a very small town with limited facilities. The Bischoff Hotel (Pub) does great inexpensive dinners, and The Roadhouse sells fuel, take-away food and a good selection of basic grocery items (usually open from 7am - 6pm).
The closest large supermarket / shopping centre is located in Burnie - 45 minute drive.
Waratah is a picturesque town midway between Burnie and Cradle Mountain. The town features a number of historical buildings including Philospher Smith's Hut and The Bischoff Hotel and is well worth exploring. With the main street only 300m away it is an easy walk past the lake.
The Roadhouse is prominent on Smith Street as you drive in or out of town. It is generally open 7am - 5pm 7 days per week and can supply all your basic needs, including take away food and petrol.
Further along this road you will find the Waratah Museum, The Athaneum, the Post Office, the Stamper Mill and also the top of the waterfall. If you continue along past the old post office you will find the perfect location to view the waterfall across from the Bischoff Hotel.
While you are there stop in at The Bischoff Hotel for a drink or stay for dinner - they do a Monster Chicken Schnitzel that my son LOVES!
Wander around the lake - it's a nice easy stroll and keep an eye out for Platypus - they do exist and are best spotted at either Dusk or Dawn.
Located 50 minutes from Burnie and 45 minutes from Cradle Mountain, a car is essential.
Use extreme care driving especially Dusk til Dawn as this is when the wildlife are most active. The road leading into town in particular is heavily populated with critters at night - so for your sake and theirs Please Slow Down.
During the colder months it is recommended you drive a 4wd (or at least an SUV) due to the likelihood of snow (which can get quite high at times).
