This property is historic and quaint, a plus for people who want to feel like they're in an inn that doesn't begin with Holiday. Especially for the wood floors and antique furnishings, it lets you feel a little bit back in time. The restaurant downstairs featured farm-to-table seasonal dishes, and the lounge was a comfy spot to sit and play cards. They carried our bags up to the room, which was nice because no elevator. No tv either, but we didn't notice at first because of all the tours and museums we had planned. The best part was the monsoon shower head--such a lovely fall of water, and charming antique bathroom fixtures. Everything was very clean, and they did room service daily, upon request. I'd stay again.

This is a really quaint hotel near DuPont Circle made up of 4 houses. All rooms are v individual & traditionally furnished. Don’t expect a tv or phone but good aircon & fan. Breakfasts are excellent & staff are v helpful & friendly. Dinner was expensive but they had a good menu. There are lots of stairs & steps up to the main entrance so maybe not great for people with mobility issues. We found it charming.

I've stayed at the Tabard a bunch of times. It's the most unique property in DC. If you are the kind of person who likes all the modern conveniences of today's fancy hotels, The Tabard Inn probably isn't for you. All the rooms are different in their own unique and historic way. No TVs or fancy glass showers here but if you appreciate some historic ambiance, The Tabard Inn is the place for you! Staff is great... restaurant and bar is awesome... just an overall fun place to stay!

Atmospheric but not comfortable!!!
My room was not comfortable. There is a broken old couch with a random ill fitting cushion thrown on top. The room was large but there was no desk. The shower curtain was inadequate causing the bathroom to flood. There were insufficient and not nice bed linens. There was frequently no one at the front desk. Twice received bad information, once about directions and once about the time it would take to get to Union Station

This was my second stay at the Tabard Inn. Check-in was easy, and there is someone at the desk at all times. The property is very cool, with a very eclectic style. Each room is unique. The keys have wooden blocks with the room numbers, and they recommend that you leave them at the front desk when you are out. I love this, so I don't have to worry about losing them. During this stay we had an issue upon arrival with the lock for our room, but the staff were quick to assist us. They even offered us a glass of wine for our troubles while they worked out the issue. Maintenance was able to replace the lock while we were in the restaurant for breakfast the next morning. The hotel provided a $10 voucher towards our meal for each of the days that we were staying there. We have eaten there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and are always very pleased with our choices. The staff in both the hotel, as well as the restaurant, were always friendly and attentive. They have both valet and self-park available. We chose the self-parking option, so we dropped off our luggage with the staff and picked up our pass for the garage at that time. The garage is very close. The location is perfect and close to many landmarks. I would note that there are no elevators, so if stairs are an issue, I would check with the hotel before booking. I highly recommend the Tabard Inn.

The Tabard Inn is delightful. Tremendous story appeal with its history, beautiful interior, and a very impressive restaurant with inventive locavore selection. The beverage selection is one you would expect from the finest boutique restaurants in Europe. And the cocktails?! Fresh, perfectly balanced liquid adventures. The staff is gracious, warm and welcoming. No attitude, just pure pleasure at having you at their establishment. You feel like a much loved member of an exclusive club. Seriously, if you're in DC, do it right. Stay at the Tabard. Its my new favourite.
