What a lovely place to stay!
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.
The hotel itself is a little tired but pleasant enough - the staff friendliness outweighed this!
Would recommend and would love to stay again if I am in the area.
We arrived to find the check in staff member focused heavily on the computer screen. After about 4 minutes we were told they would be with us shortly (without looking up) and after another 4 minutes I eventually asked if we should just wait somewhere else where we were finally told there was an IT issue; it would have been nice to know this straight away rather than standing with a tired child not knowing why we were being ignored.
The room was clean but as others said the bathroom needed work; we had to shoulder barge the door to get it to close as the handle and latch mechanism were in poor condition.
The complimentary snacks were a nice touch and the bed was comfy but sadly the main reason we can’t recommend this room is the temperature in summer. With windows open and a fan going it was still UNBEARABLY hot all night. We barely slept which was so frustrating as we had stopped here to have a good nights sleep and head off on holiday to Southampton the next day, but we ended up starting our holiday more tired than if we had just gone straight from home to Southampton on the same day.
We told hotel staff who just agreed it does get hot in the rooms and a ‘sorry’ was said but there was no follow up of making things right or offering solutions/showing signs of disappointment that we had not enjoyed our stay.
Sadly we wouldn’t recommend people stay here in summer without checking first what room they are getting and how hot the weather is on the day of check in.
The facilities were clean and tidy, although showing some signs of age.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The food was of a high standard, well presented and tasty.
The supplied 'treats' indicated the level of care and thoughtfulness given by the management and staff.
We would recommend the Hampshire Hog to family / friends and would stay there again.
Would I stay here again? Yes I would, that says a lot for the Hampshire Hog.
It was an easy check in and the staff were friendly and very helpful.
Our room was large, comfortable with all amenities with extras of a wonderful bottle of cider and water. We ate there in the evening and the choice of food was excellent and was very good.
Breakfast was plentiful, varied and excellent.
Only downside was it was one of the hottest days of the summer which didn't help with sleeping but a fan was already provided in the room. A very pleasant short stay.
Had a lovely one night stay, really comfy room with a nice tray of complimentary snacks and bottled pear cider. Two bottles of water and milk for tea/coffee also complimentary which were in the fridge was a lovely surprise find. Staff all really friendly and attentive. Had evening meal which was delicious and the scrambled eggs I had for breakfast were perfect, buffet breakfast and full English also available.Lovely location in the beautiful Hampshire countyryside close to Butser Hill and Butser ancient farm.

Very convenient for visiting both Portsmouth and Petersfield as main shopping areas. But also a short distance from other national trust or places of interest.
