lake house stay
We originally booked this expecting 6 adults and 4 children/teenagers. We wound up with 4 adults and 2 children. there were only 2 bedrooms for adults so I do not know where we would have put the other adult couple. This house has many different levels that require going up steps between areas. The entry stairs and the stairs to the basement where the laundry is are varying heights so be careful as you go up and down because you never know what height the next step is. 2 of the children beds are up a ladder in a loft. This is a true vrbo with owner items in most closets and drawers. Never could get the Direct TV to work. Kept getting message for software update requiring the original remote control which was nowhere to be found. Host said it worked fine the prior week. The whole town had been flooded a few weeks earlier but this property sits on a high point so was not damaged. Only boat for rent on the lake was a pontoon with a hard top so could not get under bridges to reach the connecting lake. Lots of algae and seaweed in the lake and in front of the dock. Our first stay at a MN lake house so may have had higher expectations than were reasonable.

Great place with everything you need
We had our annual extended family get away here vs staying in northern MN or Wisc. We all enjoyed how close it was to our actual homes (MPLS and St Paul) and were impressed with all the amenities, like towels, soap, toilet paper. Past experience we’ve had properties that only leave you one roll of toilet paper (example). The fire pit was wonderful and the host responsive when we had a request. We would definitely come back again!

Nice house right on the lake
The stay was good and was nice being right on the lake. We stayed at a time when Waterville area had historic rainfall and water levels did wash out a lot of people's basements/yards. Not much people could really do about it. There could also have been more on the check in process than what was originally sent out. Overall it is a great location and nice house to have a family retreat at.

Loved the Lake House
We stayed at the lake house with family for a few days and found the house, lake and neighborhood very enjoyable. We really appreciated the property manager getting the propane tank for the gas grill refilled so we could do some outdoor cooking. The house is comfy, spacious and very well equipped. Our dog loved the fenced in yard. The fisherman and women in our group enjoyed catching a few largemouth bass on the dock. I didn’t want to leave!

Great house/location. Would stay again
We were very impressed at how well stocked the house was. The kitchen has everything you would need to make any meal. There are plenty of towels, toiletries, and bedding. We did not use the laundry, but there is a washer and dryer in the basement. The living room is cozy with a lot of seating. There was 8 of us, 6 adults, 2 teens. The pictures of the beds are a little deceiving. There is only one private bedroom (full size). The main floor bedroom has two doorways. One is the barn door you see in the photo. There is another door opening that faces the lakeside. It is separated from the living room by a floor length window covering. Outside - there's no real shore area, it's all rocks. There is a canoe on site that we did use (there are life jackets there as well.) We would have liked a little more yard for yard games but the lake views, deck and fire pit more than made up for that. Plus, there was a nice park that's only two blocks away (Oak Park) that we went to play bags and bocce ball. We rented a pontoon on Madison Lake that is about 15 minutes away. Highly recommend that as the resort on Tetonka cancelled our rental with no notice or reason. We didn't need a boat our entire stay, so it worked out very well for us. The town doesn't have much but there is a small grocery store there. Recommend going to Wiste's meat market. They had a great selection of brats, burgers, bacon wrapped chicken, beef sticks. We used the gas grill on the property that worked well with no issues.

Fun cabin for family gathering
Stayed with grandparents and their two childrens families. Had 4 teen granddaughters staying. Loft was good for them. A few adults did climb up there but wouldnt trust for small children or adults not super comfortable climbing ladders and getting back down them. Bunk beds were very sturdy although we didnt have adults in yhe top bunk so not sure about adult capacity. Stocked with wood for the firepit and lots of fun seating outside. With little grass there were not many mosquitoes but not sure if thats a common occurance. Everyone in our group had maybe 1 or 2 bites for the whole weekend. We rented a pontoon from the resort on the lake and were able to dock it at the end of the dock. Kids loved fishing from the dock and went through a lot of worms. Mostly blue gill and sunnies but caught a small northern one night, and 2 bass (im told, personally i have no idea about fish). We had an issue with being able to get into the house at checkin but had wonderful and fast communication. Thank you for sharing this lovely property with us!

Birthday weekend getaway
We wanted to do something special for our granddaughter's 10th birthday. This home served us quite well. It was very clean. The kitchen was extremely equipped with plenty of dishes, pots and pans. The grill has a very nice and had ample gas. The lake view was beautiful and the huge oak trees provided much shade and entertainment from the falling acorns. The grand kids loved fishing from the dock, playing in the sand by the fire pit and the bunk bedroom was a huge hit for them. We didn't let them use the loft as the ladder there is a bit steep. Overall this was a very nice place to stay and the check in and out check out process was the easiest I've ever had. We would most definitely stay here again should we visit southern Minnesota again.

Wonderful (but with a few frustrations)
Really nice place in a quiet neighborhood with beautiful views and gorgeous sunsets! Walking distance to the beach and a fire pit surrounded by a huge sand area which our little ones loved as a sandbox. Big TV and comfy couches:) The kitchen was great with anything we needed to cook our meals. Lots of towels, blankets, extra sheets for our use - also great! The description of the house however was not accurate and additional pictures might have helped. The beds are full-size, not queen as described. There is a very high and steep ladder to get to the loft, which is open to the bunk bed room and hallway, but quiet and away from the rest of the house. The loft had not been vacuumed or cleaned - there were cobwebs behind my head, and flannel linty sheets on the bed - grateful there were others in the closet to use. Mostly the home was clean, but there was a lot of dog hair under furniture and in corners, and the deck really needed a hosing off. We had little grandkids on the floors, so this was probably more noticeable to us. We loved having the canoe available to us, but it obviously had not been used this year and we had to do the cleaning which took us an hour. It made us feel like they weren’t ready for us. (When I name all these cleaning issues, I think we should have a refund on our cleaning fee!) The canoe is great, but it took 2 strong people to get it over the boulders and into the lake. And the dock is unstable, as part of the supporting structure is cracked, and it is 2ft above the water level. A bit scary for our kids. The larger bedroom on the main floor (very nice) is open to the family room with no door to buffer the TV sound. The bunk bed room has an AC unit to cool that bedroom and the loft, but it is so loud when it kicks in that it kept waking us. Having ceiling fans in the bedrooms was nice. When we arrived, we had a few stressful minutes because the key was not left in the door and we had to message the host and wait to get in. It really is a lovely home, and we would go back. Just hope the cleaning crew and host manager would be sure it is clean and ready for the next guests.

Roomy, clean, and fun
We had 5 adults, 1 infant and 1 5yo in our group. There was enough space, beds, and bathrooms for everyone. The back deck and firepit was a lot of fun for both the 5yo and the adults. We didn't go out on the lake, but it was nice having it there. The host was very quick to respond to any questions. I recommend staying here if you have a large group and need plenty of beds. You will have to climb a ladder to get into one of the beds so be aware of that.

Lakeside View
My family enjoyed our long weekend stay. Quick access to our boat, fishing from the dock for the kids, and plenty of space for a late day camp fire were all positive aspects of the trip. We caught northern pike, musky, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and bluegill from the dock.
