Large 1-BR Living RM Kitchen in a Monastery mansion in premier downtown Wheeling

Relax at a unique, serene monastery that is under restoration. THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE. It is comfortable, clean, and convenient, and it needs to be further polished.

Designed by famous architect Frederick F. Faris (1870–1927), built to house cloistered Carmelite nuns (1915 to 1974), the building was converted into apt units in the 80s. This 2nd-floor unit looks out to the cloistered courtyard. The building is a federal-registered historical site. We are working with Fedderal, State and City to restore this rare historical magnificence. Your stay is part of the effort.

The property is located on the top of a hill in a premier residential area. Mt. Carmel is a peaceful oasis. It is easy to see past her crumbly edges and enjoy the space's charm and grace, cloistered courtyard, and walled gardens. The view of the sunset is breathtaking. We are in the process of restoring it to its old glory.

Living in this apartment (900+/- sq ft) is like living in a huge house (27,000+/- sq ft) with your private entry and your own master suite (bedroom 12x15, full bath, living room, kitchen and closet). At the same time, you have access to the great room, office, back yard with gardens, and courtyard with patio.

A washer and dryer are available in the basement. Private parking. It is minutes away from Downtown Wheeling, with many restaurants and activities. It is minutes away from several hospitals.
