The Dolphin is perfectly situated, right in the heart of Whitby. We had room 6 on the top floor with a great view over the harbour, good bathroom, comfortable bed and decent furnishings. Breakfast was decent with tea and coffee facilities in the room.
Comfortable and within walking distance of anything we wanted to do. Excellent restaurants within walking distance. Parking was confusing but once we figured it out, we managed.

Room certainly not superior. Attic room with one window showing a harbour view. Sub standard wardrobe and no drawers for clothes. Lived out of a suitcase. All the other rooms appeared superior in many aspects. Certainly wasn't worth nearly £200 per night. I noticed that they were advertising just over £100 per night prior to us arriving. The hotel consisted of dix rooms and we were certainly at the bottom.
We went there to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary. The room we had looked over whitby harbour. We slept well and the breakfast was lovely. All in all a good stay.
Amazing stay..staff lovely and good breakfast.. the location was central to everywhere and views were fantastic. The pub gets very busy showing its popularity.
The room was great very spacious with everything one needs. The bed was a little weird and felt uneven but didn't stop us sleeping after busy days exploring the area.
If theres any criticism its having no plugs near the bed to plug phones or fan in but i would definitely stay here if visiting the area again..thank you to the staff for being so friendly
Just returned from a stay at the Dolphin. The room was very clean and spacious with great views of the harbour. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good too. The pub was lively but quietened down at 11pm and they did do a good pint of Guinness. We would stay again.
We absolutely loved this hotel. We were more than happy with all aspects - the room was lovely, the staff is amazing and wonderfully friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The pub itself is charming with excellent pub food. The location is also perfect - walkable from train station, on the water and close to all the sites. Stay here, you will not regret it!
Great position in Whitby and super breakfast. Very friendly staff. Just taken over by new team who are working their way through an upgrade. Recommended already.
