The whole front desk area smelled like septic really bad, like there was a septic vent pipe plugged. Being in Renovation contractor, I am quite familiar with that smell.

I thought for the price we paid the hotel would be in a bit better shape…needs a facelift. Rugs need replacing and the wallpaper looks like it’s from the 60s. Also, the ceilings are rather strange..maybe it’s just soundproofing not done so good. Also, the parking lot was under construction and there really wasn’t enough spots for everyone’s cars. However, the room was quiet and beds were comfortable enough.

First and last time I will be staying at the Sternwheeler. Nothing wrong with the property itself, but after travelling for 14 hours, the last thing I wanted to deal with was a check in staff with zero customer service abilities. It really ruined my experience. I'll choose to stay elsewhere in the future.
