Yö'ngö offers an exception view of the Milky Way Galaxy you won't find anywhere else.
Secluded among the Pinyon and Pine trees in the high desert is this beautiful and luxurious geodesic dome. Yö'ngö is located about three miles from HWY 64 and about 20 minutes from the South Rim entrance of The Grand Canyon.
We have provided soft memory foam mattresses, microfiber bedding, soft towels, and all the amenities we were able to offer at our beautiful off-grid location.
NOTE TO ALL GUESTS:
This is a luxury geodesic dome tent. It is twice insulated but still... a tent.
Please remember this unit is not a house. It is an off grid set up designed for those who are looking for a secluded camping/stargazing experience and want to do so without forfeiting comfort.
There are 120v outlets with USB charging ports.
The shower room provides a steam shower cabin with Bluetooth speaker.
Please note: **due to freezing temperatures, the dome tent will be winterized, and the running water will be shut off. The dome will not have running water from Oct 20th until April 1. (Weather permitting!) During this dry camping time, we will provide fresh water in 5gallon jugs.
The heating and air conditioning (swamp cooler / water cooled air conditioner) are great off-grid amenities. Please plan for about 20 degrees increase from the heater and about 10 degrees decrease from the cooler.
Yö'ngö is located on a secluded and rural area of the Grand Canyon Junction. It is highly likely that you will hear animals at night, such as coyotes, elk, local cattle, and of course little critters running around on the deck.

DESCRIPTION OF A SUMMER DAY AT Yö'ngö:
.......................................................................................
When the sun comes over the horizon it fills the sky with light colors of pinks and purple. The hummingbirds and orioles start arriving at the feeder, fighting over who will get the nectar. Sit out on the deck and take in the snowcapped mountains with your morning cup of coffee.
An occasional lizard may climb up the screen door looking for a spot to catch insects.
The summer afternoons will get hot! It is a good idea to be at the canyon during this time of day. But if you want to hang out at Yö'ngö staying outside on the hammock and in the shade is the best way to enjoy the day.
The evenings are just as memorable as the sunrises. If you are lucky, you will be able to catch a glimpse of elk walking around the tree line.
Building a fire and relaxing outside while seeing the most memorable show of stars is the best way to spend the nights at Yö'ngö.

DESCRIPTION OF A WINTER DAY AT Yö'ngö:
.......................................................................................
Echoing the summer experience description, (excluding the hot temperatures) the winter dry camp experience is as memorable as any other time of the year.
The winter months are very cold, while we provide as much as we can in our off-grid space to keep you comfortable, please understand that the Geodesic Dome can get as warm or cold as outside. You should come prepared for the temperatures forecasted for your stay and expect that the dome will be warmer or colder than what you would get in a traditional house.
Many people, including, ourselves, live in this area without air conditioning or central heating and do our best to pass on tips and tricks! If needed, there are extra blankets under the bed and an electric blanket on the bed for your comfort.
Please note: **due to freezing temperatures, the dome tent will be winterized, and the running water will be shut off.
The dome will not have running water from Oct 20th until April 1. (Weather permitting!) During this dry camping time, we will provide fresh water in 5gallon jugs.
**Winter booking disclaimer: Mid Oct-late March weather can be extremely cold and unpredictable. The dome will be winterized and will not have running water. Fresh water will be provided during these months. All reservations during these months should expect a "winter dry- camp" experience. Please know the stargazing experience can still be amazing and is simply not for the faint-hearted during the winter months. We will not refund stays due to cold weather, no running water, muddy or snowy roads and will honor all reservations booked.
***After a heavy snow fall, an all-wheel or four-wheel drive is required.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION FOR GUESTS:
.............................................................................
Road to Yö'ngö:
***Please note due to recently extreme winter weather the roads are rough and have developed many potholes, which has also left standing water on some parts of the road.
The best vehicles are an all-wheel drive (standard size Sedan) with moderate clearance or four-wheel drive vehicle during the monsoon season (late June through September) and after a heavy snow. (December through March) If you see a puddle, drive around it on the higher ground. Don't drive through it; (unless you see others driving through it and feel comfortable to follow) they could be deeper than you think! Follow everyone else's tracks.
A standard size sedan with moderate clearance should be doable April-June and October - November.
***After a heavy snow fall, an all-wheel or four-wheel drive is required.
FIREWOOD:
During winter months we have plenty of pre-chopped fire-wood available for our guests to enjoy the inside fireplace.
You're welcome to collect dead and down wood from our property or use what past guest have donated for outside firepit.
Do not break or cut anything off the trees even if it looks dead.
ELECTRICTY & POWER:
Yö'ngö is powered from solar panels. There is ample power and has always been available as needed. Please be aware that consecutive cloudy days and high-power devices may deplete the stored energy.
I would avoid using the below items:
Hair dryer
Curling iron
Clothes Iron
Space heater
Anything that is made to create heat
AIR CONDITIONING:
Please know, this is a swamp / water cooled air-conditioner. That means you will not get icy cold air from it. This works at a cooler level than a fan but not as strong as regular home air conditioner.
SCREEN DOOR:
Yö'ngö comes with a magnetic screen door. This allows for a gentle breeze and ability to hear the birds at day and the owls at night.
SKYLIGHT:
Yö'ngö has a skylight window and a skylight curtain you can open.
BATHROOM:
Yö'ngö has a private outdoor compositing toilet. This toilet is a private toilet to you and your friends. It is outside the dome and reduces any unwanted odor and it's fully insulated for a more comfortable experience. :)
