Gross & dirty - management doesn't follow through

Gross and dirty. We stayed here for one night to check out Busch Gardens. We planned to use the pull out sofa, and when we pulled out the bed it was covered in sand, dirt, and other debris. And not just a little bit that could easily be brushed off, pretty much across the whole mattress cover. Someone was obviously sandy and dirty and eating messily on the bed, and no one ever cleaned it up. It was late, so we pulled off the mattress cover and planned to lay a blanket down. The blanket from the closet had two large clumps of hair in it. I realize that happens sometimes when something goes through a dryer, but folks should check it before putting it out for people to use. I mentioned this to the clerk at checkout the next morning and asked them for half of my money back since half the beds were filthy. They said someone from management would contact me in the next 48 hours. Its been 2 weeks and no one has followed up. I will say that the room was large and spacious - my first impression was that it was a great place. Good location with lots to do and restaurants around. Just disappointed in the cleanliness and lack of follow through by their management.

The hotel was very good. The room was excellent for our 6 day stay. Was grateful for the small kitchen. Saved a lot on needing to eat out all the time. My only beef was the fact that they had “extra” fees over and above what was listed on Expedia. Never could figure the reason for the fees other than to recoup their advertised low price. They said the fees were for the paper, soaps, towels and pool. All these are normal non factors at other hotels. They tried to get me to sign a paper that would have allowed them to charge $20 extra per day. I wouldn’t sign it. What they charged came out to around $10 extra per day. Oh, well. Other than that the accommodations were excellent.

I don’t understand the firm six hour window between when you have to check out and when you can check in. Atleast tell incoming guests that their rooms may be available after 2:00 on an availability basis. This prevents both all incoming guests from being inconvenienced and a front desk stampede at 4PM! Also this is the first hotel of any kind that didn’t supply some type of laundry bags in the closet! When I mentioned it to the front desk clerk she seemed befuddled! To her credit she at least offered me a smallish clear bag from her drawer!
