This was my third time staying here. We had a difficult time getting in due to Expedia's issue but luckily all worked out and we enjoyed our over night stay. Breakfast was amazing as always
The room was great and very comfortable and we loved the location. I was very put off by the lack of service and irritating policies and signs. We were driving to Wilmington and had made plans to visit with friends in Pawleys Island on the way up. The Verandas only has check in from 4 to 5 pm so I sent a message to say we would not arrive until 6:00. No response so I called them. They said I would receive an email from them giving me a link to provide my ID and credit card images. I thanked them and checked my email repeatedly all day. By the next day, I still had not received it. So I called them again. They sent the email after that call and I provided the images. They had told me I would receive a four digit code to get in after 5:00. No word. I called again and they responded that it was the last four digits of my phone number. When we arrived, there was no staff at all, there was no welcome packet and no access to ice so we could have a drink in our room. The only glasses were the bathroom glasses. Breakfast was only offered at 9:00 or 10:00. There were signs posted about a $500 fine for any spot on the sheets and a $500 fine if you don’t return the parking pass for a street parking place. They had advertised a parking lot and we were very confused when we arrived. Breakfast was a strange hash of Barbeque and fried onions and peppers at a big table with the other guests. We were seated next to a charming woman but she left the table because she thought the hash was awful.
This is an amazing place to stay in Wilmington! It is very elegant inside and staff are so friendly. They serve a gourmet breakfast every day this is delicious and filling! They have coffee, tea, water, homemade cookies in the main rooms throughout the day and beautiful verandas - hence the name! We felt like we were living in the 1800's as the owners of the house by the beauty of this place. We highly recommend this place and would stay there again.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The property was nice but there was no staff after 5. So our air conditioner wasn’t working and there was no one to help with that and also checkout
Magnificently restored historic mansion, conveniently located to downtown Wilmington. Our room was very large and comfortable and beautifully decorated. Only complaint is the pillows on the bed (kind of hard). The staff is exceptional in every way...friendly, welcoming, polite, professional. Breakfast was delightful.
We enjoyed our stay at the Verandas very much. We especially enjoyed the family style breakfast, the beauty of the venue, the historic part of Wilmington and the staff were very helpful.
We arrived early but were welcomed warmly by the daughter of the owners. She showed us around and explained all we needed to know. The whole building is beautifully restored. The common rooms are spacious with lots of light due to the many large windows. There are many comfortable seating areas inside and outside on the elevated patio and on the large verandas. Our room was nicely decorated and had plenty of space. The bed was very comfortable. Overall we had a great stay.
Beautiful home and rooms, staff is attentive to every detail and if you need something you just need to ask and they bring it to you. Hopefully we will be able to come back soon.
I was a little hesitant to book since online says the inn is a two-star hotel. Ignore the two-star rating. So long as you can climb stairs, I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Room was comfy with nice bedding and a large sitting area. Bathroom was very nice with large shower/tub. Location was great given it was within walking distance of the river and downtown. Also, many historical homes to view in walking distance. I’d like to visit again.
