You stay here for the location. It used to be the premier property downtown. After a few too many concert and UK basketball after parties it’s showing it’s age. The lobby is amazing, but I can’t say the same for the rest of the property.
Pros
Great Staff
Location relative to events at Rupp/Central Bank Center
Super Cold A/C
Very Comfortable Bedding
Cons
Food. The hotel restaurant dinner and breakfast would only be worth it if it were free at a Hampton Inn; you are forced to Door Dash for anything close to decent.
Price. Everything, including the price of the room, is grossly overpriced. Bring your own alcohol.
Overall Feel of the property. You can smell the 30 years of smoke in the smoke free hotel rooms. Carpet in the hallways and rooms has huge waves and is loose, as if it was just thrown down. Trash in the hallways. Rusted out door facings every where.
I’ve stayed here many times over the past 30 years and I guess I lived through its decline. You stay for location, location, location. If I weren’t attending an event at Rupp or a work conference, which was the case this past stay for me, I would definitely pick something else. The Marriott City Center/Residence Inn are comparably priced and much nicer on every level.
