What an amazing hotel! It's truly a 5 star experience. Stayed there one night over July 4 holiday and it was wonderful! Had a corner room facing the Mill Mountain Star, just beautiful. Staff is top notch! The young man that drove me to the airport was a joy to talk to. Had dinner at the restaurant which was delicious! Will definitely stay there again!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much last weekend. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we had the best service everywhere. We went :) The Pine room with Amanda and Nygel as our waitress and waiter, the two nights that we ate dinner, everything we ate was to die for, but I will say our favorite was the steak highly highly recommend. We did enjoy the breakfast. The Coffee room (STEAM) I believe there were two ladies in there who were just as nice as can be. We had delicious made to order omelettes, and our waitress was wonderful in there as well could have not asked for better thank you so much and we look forward to returning soon!!

Property is beautiful and needs to keep its original character from, rooms, staff, service etc. I had styrofoam cups for water and coffee. No glass cups for drinking and no drinking glasses in the bathroom. Hard to believe for a collectors item hotel. Dining room is beautiful, however for breakfast you are pushed to use the buffet where the food is cold. Being able to order what you like from the menu creates a more pleasant experience for a perceived higher end hotel.

I liked the proximity to the Berglund center and the fact that a free shuttle was available. Staff was very courteous. The room was clean but some kind of wrapper was left on the floor in clear sight. The ac worked but it still felt warm/ humid in the room. Overall a good experience.

Short Walk from Amtrak Station
I don't normally write reviews, but this hotel was exceptional. Great location for Taubman Art Museum, Virginia Transportation Museum, O Winston Link Museum and downtown. Dinner at the Pine Room was excellent and fairly priced. Best of all, hotel was a short walk from the Amtrak Station. Small downside on eco-friendly: Had to run shower a very long time to get hot water, and there did not seem to be any recycling bins that I saw.

The property was grand even though it was under construction. The pool was nice and parking was convenient for a price. The room was very comfortable. Did not try the food because it was very limited and expensive.

The front desk staff was not the friendliest... and I was a bit put off upon arrival. However the rest of the staff I encountered were all very hospitable. The room / bathroom were immaculate! So I do very much appreciate that. The walls are a little thin and we could hear the TV in the next room, but nothing that prevented sleeping.
