I am a frequent traveler to this hotel.
The lobby is quite clean and very well staffed, however, of the 8 people at the front desk, only two spoke english. I was surprised since I would guess that 30-40% of the guests are foreign. The front desk attendants are quite friendly but its always quite chaotic, and it tends to make guests feel very anxious.
The check in process after getting over the language barrier was quick. The rooms are reasonably clean and nicely decorated, but you can tell that some of the things are starting to show their age (upholstery on chairs, carpet). Most areas are clean, but if you look at detailed areas (between bed and nightstand), baseboards, behind TV etc, you'll find that the amount of dust in these areas has not been addressed in a long time.
Bed linens are nice and crisp and clean, the beds offer a nice amount of firmness. No complaints for the sleep quality or temperature controls.
The breakfast buffet is a large selection of western and oriental dishes, though the fried eggs were severely undercooked (egg whites still clear on top). Service at breakfast was non existent for coffee or tea, but they would remove your plates very fast at least.
Overall, I'd stay here again, and I do when I go to Yantai.
