About the Area

Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.
Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing.
Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley.
Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station.
The Redwoods In Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!
Make yourself comfortable in this cabin, which features a fireplace. There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Conveniences include a phone, as well as a desk and a microwave.
This smoke-free cabin features books, games, and sledding nearby. Recreational activities include rock climbing nearby, cross-country skiing nearby, and hiking/biking trails nearby.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Great first visit to Yosemite
My husband and our 3 kids had a wonderful stay at this cabin. There were 2 hiking trails within walking distance (Chilnualna Falls and the swinging bridge) that we could do with our kids ages 5-7 that were beautiful. It was so convenient staying inside the park, it was about a 40-60 min drive into Yosemite valley. The kitchen was very well stocked, we brought all our own food and cooked every meal in the cabin. The only thing we needed was paper products and zip loc bags. There are lots of fun games for all ages, as well as a very well stocked book shelf and selection of DVDs. Overall we had an amazing experience.

Great Stay in the Park
Our cabin was conveniently located in Wawona, which saved us quite a bit of time accessing the valley floor. It was nice to be able to return to a clean, comfortable cabin after a long, hot day at play. Our only wish would have been for air conditioning as our stay was on one of the hottest weeks of the year, but the experience was great overall!

Celebration
We celebrated our 60th birthday with long time friends at your beautiful cabin! Everything about it was perfect. The kitchen was so well-equipped for any type of cooking. The living room was cozy with plenty of seating for family time. Games and books are provided. There's a huge fire place for cooler months. The beds were comfortable and clean .... felt a lot like the one I have at home! Oh! And the back porch was great for evening rest and morning prayer time! We did a lot of hiking in Yosemite and needed this lovely cabin to refresh.

Great Getway for a family of 6
This was a great place for our family. It was comfy, clean, and relalaxing. We were able to comfortably have 6 adults in this cabin. The deck was one of our favorite places to enjoy the outdoors and meals. The dining table was great for games and puzzles. We were able to relax in the family room and play games around the table there as well. It was an unforgetable trip!

Excellent. Amazingly well-equipped kitchen, nicely furnished, lovely deck. It would have been nice if Redwoods in Yosemite had provided more than 4 towels for 5 people staying for 4 days. A minimum of two bath towels per person should ne adequate.

Wonderful cabin easy access to Yosemite and great to make early drive to the valley!
We enjoyed this cabin, as a family of six it was a perfect size- it was 90+ degrees the week we were there but great ceiling fans helped keep us cool, as well as a walk to soak our feet in the cool river! Having a small store nearby was great! The office at the redwoods was helpful and have most anything you would need for the cabin- dish detergent, soap and access to W/D that are coin operated. Fresh towels to trade out if needed! Nice to have access to the park with no reservations, one less thing to worry about! Even woke the first morning with deer right outside the cabin! Would definitely stay again!

Yosemite get-away
Wonderful cabin- cozy, well-stocked, exactly as pictured. The only disappointment was that it was not an individual property but one of several cabins in a community called Redwoods in Yosemite. Not a criticism- just something to be aware of. We had a great time.

A charming and well kept cabin in Yosemite
We stayed in October 2020 while the park was still under access control. This cabin was perfectly positioned to visit the Mariposa Grove and Glacier Point. Wawona is just inside the park so drive to the valley is longer. The cabin was recently updated, the kitchen was well appointed, furniture is in great shape. Lovely cabin for a family of 4-5 to explore Yosemite. Would definitely come back! p.s. We were missing some kitchen towels and they were out so just in case bring some kitchen supplies, soap and shampoo. Otherwise it's perfect.

Cabin #74
The cabin was great for a small family or two couples. It was comfortable and covered the amenities. Wawona is a great spot with hiking trails, small grocers and restaurants. It surprised me that the Redwoods cabins subdivisions was crowded. From the picture, it appeared that the cabins are isolated. In reality, it is a subdivision and you are close to your neighbors. We had no problems with neighbors but expected it to be more isolated.

Cozy Cabin
Great cozy cabin in a quiet little town 50 minutes (20 miles) from Yosemite valley floor. Fun hikes and the Chilnualna falls and river are just a quarter mile away allowing for fishing and walks along the river. Only thing missing is a washer/dryer but you can use the coin operated machines at the Redwoods management center (about a 100 yard walk).

A Wonderful Stay!
My daughter and I were going to Yosemite for spring break and this was the perfect base camp! You can get to the valley floor in about 45 minutes from Wawona. Cabin was great and just as described. Redwoods staff was helpful and available. Recommend you stop in Oakhurst for groceries if coming from the west. All in all a great time and i hope to be back!

Lovely Yosemite retreat
Really appreciated the modern touches here – gas stove, marble countertops, modern appliances, etc. – all in a cozy, rustic cabin. There were lots of cooking supplies to work with; many different pans, prep bowls, tools, etc. which was SO nice. I've been to other places where there was one saucepan, one skillet, etc. so I was thrilled to find so much choice. Towels were good quality. Everything was clean and well-organized. The management property office is a short walk away, and everyone is super helpful. One person went out of her way to bring us a hose to clean off our car after we had an unexpected "offroad" experience. The WiFi was a bit slow, and the TV didn't work very well, which was frustrating to one person in our group. But not a big deal overall. Note that it takes about an hour (sometimes more, depending on traffic) to get to Yosemite Valley proper (the park floor). We didn't mind, and loved the scenic drive, but keep that timing in mind. The 10:00 am checkout time seemed rather aggressive. Overall highly recommended.
