Enjoy A Clean and Cozy Cabin Inside Yosemite National Park

Our cabin is in Wawona - Address: 8063 Chilnualna Falls Road, Wawona ,Calif. 95389 a small village located inside Yosemite National Park. The cabin comfortably sleeps six in two bedrooms and a separate closed-off alcove area. There is a modern kitchen, dining area, and a family room that faces a large stone fire place. One bedroom has a king-size bed; the other bedroom has a queen-size bed. The alcove area has a trundle bed with two twin-size beds (new mattresses November 2020).

The kitchen has a gas cook top and oven, new refrigerator (July 2020), microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and abundant cooking and eating utensils.

The family room has an L-shaped sofa and rocking chair, free Dish TV and Wi-Fi, ceiling fan, and a large fire place (great during winter). Ample firewood is provided at no charge. The dining room table sits six comfortably and the kitchen bar seats an additional two guests.

There are two bathrooms (shower in one, tub and shower in the other). A washer and dryer are also in the cabin and are provided at no extra cost.

A large deck surrounds the cabin and provides unobstructed views of Wawona Dome and an adjacent meadow where deer and other wildlife often gather. The deck is furnished with tables and chairs for more than ten people and a propane barbecue.

The cabin has forced-air heating to keep you warm during winter nights and a ceiling fan to help cool you during the summer.

Parking for five cars in a circular driveway provides easy all-year access off of the paved road.

The cabin is within 45 minutes driving time of Yosemite Valley where you can walk in the steps of John Muir as you view Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Falls, Half Dome, Cathedral Spires, El Capitan, and Mirror Lake. You can also hike to Vernal Falls, Nevada Falls, and Half Dome through Happy Isles and along the Mist Trail.

The cabin is also within 50 minutes of Badger Pass Ski Area and Glacier Point. In the winter, Badger Pass offers downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. At Glacier Point, you will have a panoramic view of Yosemite Valley, the park's many water falls, and Half Dome. It is also a trail head for the 8-mile spectacular Panorama Trail to the Valley floor along which you will view Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls up close (but not too close).

The cabin is also a short drive to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Redwood Trees. Take the tram or hike and enjoy the experience; it is worth it.

The village of Wawona is minutes away from the cabin with a country store, post office, gas station, stables, the historic Wawona Hotel, the Yosemite Pioneer History Center, and the beautiful Wawona Golf Course.

On Saturday evenings, check to see if there is a barn dance at the Pioneer Yosemite History Center or an outdoor barbeque at the Wawona Hotel. The whole family will enjoy it.

From the cabin you are also minutes away from swimming or fishing in the Merced River. A secret spot to enjoy the river is near the flat rock, across the road and down the hill from the Wawona School in the village. You can also take a leisurely hike to the swinging bridge over the south fork of the Merced River or a more challenging hike to the top of Chilnualna Falls.

There is even a public library just down the street from the cabin if you want a quiet spot to relax, read, and research your next excursion.
Make yourself comfortable in this cabin, which features a fireplace. There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a DVD player is provided for your entertainment.
This smoke-free cabin features a stereo, books, and snowboarding nearby. Recreational activities include rock climbing nearby, cross-country skiing nearby, and hiking/biking trails nearby.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Overall Great!

Wonderful location, and we really enjoyed our stay. Very clean and accommodated our group of 4 adults and 2 kids perfectly. It is more spacious than we expected from the photos. The only issue was that the heating system was a bit finicky with the room temperature dropping below the set temperature by several degrees (lowest was 64 when set at 67)… the property manager said they would get someone to look at it… hopefully it’s fixed for the next group!

Wawona Home

Nicely furnished home with a large deck. The kitchen was well equipped, (perhaps overly so?) There were some spices and condiments but suggest you bring your own. Beds were comfortable and the home was clean. Would book this home again

Cozy cabin

We had a wonderful stay. Felt like we were borrowing a well loved but clean and convenient family cabin. Nothing fancy, but had everything we needed. Kids loved having the trundle bed room to themselves - it got colder than the bedrooms at night but they did ok with extra blankets. Thank you!

Fully equipped cabin that had that rustic feeling. We enjoyed walking to the Pine Market and free coffee with the Park Rangers. The store has pretty much everything.

Terrible communication with property manager

We were not given any check in details prior to arrival, so had no idea how to get into the property. On arrival, the property was locked and had not been cleaned from previous occupants. After several phone calls, we found the key and then had to clean the house! so we could

Love it!

We had a great time at the cabin. It's as described. It was hot during the day and cool down at night. They don't have AC but there are plenty of fans to keep the cabin cool during the day. The only thing we wished they had it's kid's toys. Overall was amazing.

Cabin at Wiwona

The august weather was terribly hot and the temperature had an adverse effect on the cabin. The two bedrooms, when hot, emitted a bad odor. The middle bedroom smelled like sewage and the master bedroom smelled like mildew and sewage. My wife and I had to close both rooms and sleep on the pullout bed in the living room. The television did not work after the 1st night. There was a text message address posted in the cabin for assistance but android phones do not work in the national park. Finally, the wires connecting the TV were stuffed behind the desk against the wall and looked like a fire hazzard.

Yosemite

This place was great. Inside the park, beds, showers and full kitchen for meals. It was great! The shower heads were a little low (I am 5 4) and it was about at my head. The gas stove was tricky with getting it started. But for not having to actually camp, sleep in a hotel room with 4 people or wait in line to enter the park, very do able. Next time we visit Yosemite, we will look for this place again. wwas tricki

Wawona Cabin

The cabin was perfect for our family group. The location is just great - inside the park but away from the crowds in the valley, The cabin is a bit rustic, and does not have air conditioning, but there were plenty of fans for our use (it was very hot during our visit). We were able to prepare most of our meals at the cabin as the kitchen has all the necessary equipment. We did stop at a large grocery store on our way to the park, but there is a small store in Wawona that has a pretty amazing variety of food and other essentials. I highly recommend this property for a trip to Yosemite!

Rustic Retreat

Quiet location within the park gate was a plus. Cabin was clean and spacious. Could do with some updating. It was nice to have a full size refrigerator and washer/dryer. We found minimal coffee and paper products. I thought it was a bit much to be charged cleaning fee, insurance or security deposit and then be expected to haul out our trash and recyclables to local dumpster.

Good size cabin for a small family:)

For someone whose new to Yosemite National Park, this cabin was a good pick, esp. for a small family like ours. It has decent size bedrooms and 2 bathrooms situated adjacent to each bedroom, it has a small kitchen with fridge, stovetop oven, and microwave that you can use in case you want to cook, and it has washer and dryer inside the main bathroom that allows you to do your laundry without needing to go elsewhere. It also has a wifi signal, but take note it’s kind of choppy, a general store nearby where you can buy groceries, and just walking distance from one of the tourist destination falls they have there. The owner of the cabin was very welcoming too, and ensures that we got all of the basic stuff in the kitchen and bathrooms that we need. Overall, it’s a very good and memorable stay. The only cons I noticed includes the ff.: the blinds in the main bathroom that needs to be replaced because somebody can just see you from outside if you don’t cover those gaps below and in between those blinds while you’re in the bathroom, the choppy wifi and cellphone signals, and it’s an hour away too from the Tunnel View and Yosemite Village where huge flocks of tourists go to. It’s not a bad choice though, and we definitely enjoyed our short stay in this place.:)

Nice place in Wawona

Property was as advertised, clean and everything worked. There was nothing astonishing or amazing, so I didn't give a full 5 stars, but there were zero issues. Well, there was one: We got snowed in despite our all-wheel drive and, unlike adjacent rental properties, no driveway snow removal was performed nor was a shovel provided for me to do it myself. I had to "shovel" the snow with a sled and we missed our outing that day. Eventually a shovel did show up after I left various messages with the management. That said, I would stay in the Mayor's house again.

Lovely Cabin :)

The pictures don't do the cabin justice. It's quite spacious, clean and really quite cozy. The community of Wawona was very nice too. We liked having the community playground for our young kids and we were happily welcomed into a local easter egg hunt put on by the Pine Tree Market. Internet service is slow during peak hours if that is important to you.

Loved our stay here. Communication with the property manager was great, loved the fireplace, great location. Wish people didn't know about it so it wouldn't be so crowded haha Would definitely stay here again. There's a great store down the street to pick up whatever you need, that was useful for us.

Lovely location, Disappointing Customer Service

I splurged for this particular stay. It was a special getaway for me and my two adult daughters and my 6-month old grandson. I would be lying if I said we did not enjoy ourselves but it also is true that there was more frustration with this rental than necessary. The power went out multiple times on our first full day (we arrived late the night before). Besides no lights that meant no heat and that all of the food and most importantly, breast milk for the baby, was at risk of spoiling. When I reached out to the property manager ---via text as instructed --- to find out if there was a backup plan in case this kept happening I received no response. Then when I asked about replacement light bulbs for an annoying flickering light in the kitchen and another light that was completely out (this was 2 of the 3 overhead lights), I again received no response. The nights were down in the 40's and we had planned to enjoy the large fireplace touted in the VRBO listing. To our surprise there was a sign above it that said fires are forbidden this time of year. Because of that we couldn't find any matches once we learned that the power outage meant that the igniter wouldn't work on the stove. Thankfully they at least responded to this text and brought us some, especially since the igniter didn't work again once the power came back on (perhaps there was air in the line by then?) so we had to use the matches throughout our stay.
