I was surprised to wake up in the middle of the night with no power in the room. Apparently they cut off the electric to the room, the fans the Ac, etc. during the night until 7am. I had to use the bathroom at 4am with the help of my cell phone flashlight.

Croatia in a word, fabulous. I had not been before and was really impressed with the scenery. I stayed at Plat, one of a number small resorts on this stretch of coast. I booked a shared transfer from the airport but I had a car all to myself so things got off to a great start. A couple of musts for visitors to this area, is a trip to Dubrovnic, where there is lot to see. The city is surrounded by a wall which you can walk around the top of, great for getting views over the city but do not leave it too late in the day to visit as it gets very hot. Just outside the walls get the cable car to top of mountain, great views and good restaurant for lunch. Another place to visit is Cavtat nice village, a number ok small beaches, with lots of eateries along mainly pedestrianized street looking across harbour. These are just two of the places I visited but there dozens of small towns, islands and not so far away, excursions to Montenegro or Mostar in Bosnia Herzegovina. All in all I had a good holiday, would certainly go again

Relaxing break with choice of pool or local beaches. Local boat service to Cavtat and Dubrovnik provides great views of coastline.

Worst service ever from front desk
This was the worst hotel experience ever based on the staff service at the front desk. Especially Jellena who just did not have an attitude towards customer service. The hotel is far from Debrovinik and a cab was needed. We asked for a cab and was told the fixed price was a certain amount. The price given was false. We also ask to make a call to check in to the airline. Jellena dialed for us and said the airline could not be reached. I asked her to try again, and she told us the front desk phone could not reach the airline. I asked if I could try and I had no problem. We later asked if we could check out early and they hold the luggage until we come back to go to the airport. They refused to place the luggage securely behind their counter or even give us a ticket to hold the luggage. We were given no choice but to leave the luggage just in front of their counter, totally unsecure. Fortunately it was still there when we arrived back to pick it up. However the overall service attitude was horrible.

Good economic hotel in beautiful environment
Nice staff, simple rooms, clean and economic hotel which suited me travelling alone. The environment, location and views where better than i hoped. I used the water transfers to cruise the Adriatic and access Dubrovnik.

Couldn't fault the hotel... Food??
Hotel and staff were excellent and fabulous pool area. The food was adequate; good quantity but not great quality. I would definitely stay here again but not take the evening meal offer. Plat is only a mile or so from Mlini but what they don't tell you is that you can only get there by water taxi or road transport. You cannot walk there at sea level so you need to plan your evening around bus and water taxi timetables. If you order a taxi it may have to come from Dubrovnic or Cavtat and this will extra: up to 250 kuna (£30). Beautiful area and I cannot wait to return.

Nice location - hotel could be improved
The rooms were clean and fairly comfortable. However, sun loungers (no cushions) were uncomfortable and the parasols would not withstand so much as a light breeze, so had to come down. They were all broken and need replacing with sturdier ones. There is no other shade by the pool, although the pool area and pool were good. Food in the restaurant was dreadful and my son had an upset stomach. Very strange cuts of meat - very tough and full of bones. Not much variety. Staff in the restaurant were surly and the waiter in the bistro did not manage to take an order for an hour (after which time we left). He was rude when I tried to get him to take our food order and suggested we go to the pool bar! Some of the pool bar staff were rude and unhelpful and not very quick to take a food order (although they did not like you going to the bar to place the order). Cavtat is a much nicer resort - there is not much at Plat. No sea views visible because of the trees and vegetation in front of the windows. Not worth paying for a sea view.

Wonderful swimming pool
Very Close to Beach. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good food. Great views from balcony (as long as not blocked by trees). Nearby departure point for boat trips to Cavtat, Dubrovnik etc.

Perfectly acceptable
Originally had a 3rd floor room with balcony on the sea. View obliterated by trees so moved to 5th. Wifi only works in public areas, No lifts where you need them and steep walking between buildings. Food adequate. Long way from Dubrovnik.

Everywhere spotless and staff couldn't do enough
Top floor room in main hotel with stunning views from the balcony. Rooms were kept very clean and staff helpful. Only downside was the food. Breakfast was repetitive and scrambled eggs were burned three morning on the trot! English breakfast consisted of small frankfurters, fried spam(?), and fatty bacon so we gave that a miss. If you want toast from the grill (self service), I'd recommend you put it on just before you went to bed - very inefficient machine and always queues waiting to use it. We ate once in the restaurant in the evening - £12.50 a head but again the food was like school dinners and uninspiring. We also used the Taverna Restaurant one evening and we were the only people in it so we didn't go back. There's an excellent restaurant a five minute walk up the hill called Kings where we had the most delicious beefsteak in a long while, although the staff struggled to cope as the place was full. All in all, we'd go back. The infinity pool was amazing and the setting stunning. The majority of the other guests were French and German with a few Brits and Croatians. A trip to Dubrovnik is a must as is a trip to Cavtat.

Hotel Orphee, Plat, Dubrovnik
On the whole, the hotel was nice, it's in need of an update but was clean. The buffet dinner was limited but we always found something to have. As we were only there for 4 days it was ok but an longer than a week we would have had to eat elsewhere, which, due to the location would have been fairly expensive as we would have had to pay for transfers into Dubrovnik or a neighbouring area. The pool area was lovely and there are some small pebbly beaches at the hotel. Take a mat though as you have to pay for the hire of sunbeds.

I wouldn't bother
This hotel is close to the worst I have ever stayed at. It was worn and dated and the room reminded me of something from the 70s. The service was terrible, three out of the four people I dealt with were cold and unhelpful. The free breakfast was inedible. The only redeeming features were the pool and an extremely helpful staff member, Stjepo. Stjepo could not have been more helpful and spent a lot if time helping us with online boarding for our flight when their public computer wasn't printing our boarding passes. Despite Stjepo's great service I would not recommend staying there to anyone ever. Unless they bulldoze it and start again.

Over all I liked it Lovely sarounding Nice pool
The food qulity and varity is rather poor, The hotel should separet the Starter table from the main. That will privent a long que. Breakfast was quit good varity but was desapointed that they served left over tomatos from night befor. The pool resturant could be more flexable. For example could not have salad instead the cooked vgetables witch were over cooked and from frozen. If the hotel improove the food, redecorate and put nice ferniture roud the reseption area it could get 4*

Great views.
When we first arrived we thought oh my god what have we done but once we were there and looked around it was ok, reception staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. The Restaurant staff took a while to get use to as they seemed only interested in the French people. The Pool Bar staff were very nice and friendly. The hotel itself needs a lot of money spending on it to get it up to date. Our room was ok but bathroom very small and needs work. Telly only had one channel. We had a side sea view room but couldn't see the sea with all the trees, some could be cut down to make way for a lovely view. We went half board but if we went again we would go bed and breakfast. The evening buffet was pretty much the same every night. There are two restaurants nearby that we used mainly as the food was lovely. Croatia itself is a lovely place to visit.

Great, but not for families.
Lovely good sized pool that was cleaned every morning and reasonably priced pool bar. Most rooms appear to have limited views caused by over grown trees, Rooms C1 (ours) to C5 appear to have the best views.Location very quiet and would be boring for children/teens.Most visitors were of the senior citizen variety, but that was because it was out of season in May.The Orphee staff all spoke English even the OAP members of staff, and all were friendly, polite and helpful, and genuinely pleased we had chosen Croatia and their hotel. Hotel had a regular shuttle into Dubrovnik for 55 Kunas return (about a fiver). Breakfast was ok but evening meals were variable. Meat dishes ok but fish ones full of bones. Luckily the Taverna is a short stroll away or even better the now famous King Konoba which is a short walk up the hill. Tables need to be booked at weekends and nightly during July/August. .A boat trip to Cavtat and a meal there is a must, and Dubrovnik can just about be covered in a day, but two are better. Kotor in Montenegro is well worth the tour.

We hope to return to this wonderful hotel
Most of the rooms are just big enough for two people. Very simple and relaxing decor, neat built-in wardrobe, 2 chairs, desk, lovely bathroom with bath and shower and a delightful private balcony with table and 2 chairs. Ours, like most of the rooms, had a good view of the bay, and of the seashore, mountain, and the fabulous sunsets. The rooms have a small fridge, but no kettle. We brought our own travel kettle. There is no elevator in the hotel, but on arrival a man was called to carry our luggage to our room. You could hear conversation from the corridor, but there was not much activity while we were there. When the wind was blowing strongly, we could hear the water crashing on the rocks below. After the first night, we asked about moving our room. The Manageress was most co-operative, and invited me to look at the alternative. On doing so we decided to stay where we were. Most nights the sea was calm. We came in early April, still the low season, so we got a really good price. Plat is a small resort, so you need to be self entertained. There is a gorgeous large salt water swimming pool which I enjoyed all to myself. There is a good Wi-Fi connection available in the bar area at Reception. As we were there in the low season, this was free of charge.
