Why should you pay to park?
Arrived and checked in, entered car details on parking tablet then asked how would I like to parking, I replied I rather not thank you. Unfortunatelt, my sense of humour was lost. I asked why should I have to pay when I am your guest? I was told abruptly “well you wouldn’t have to if you booked direct” I am no psychologist, but talk about getting off on the wrong foot. This hotel is next door to a Premier Inn and my advice is save money and stay there instead. Sorry Hilton but I won’t be staying here again!

Hotel is really good
The hotel is clean, the staff are friendly, and the shower is amazing. The door rattled a little during the night, but the maintenance staff are aware of that now.

Comfortable Stay at Excellent Hotel
Wonderful hotel. Clean, bright, warm, comfortable public areas. Truly attentive and pleasant staff (some 'good customer service' training obvious there). Restaurant a very pleasant area to dine. Breakfast buffet perfect, Sunday carvery amazing, made even better by a 2 for 1 offer! Rooms clean and comfortable. Minor issue was that bathroom had an unpleasant odour - musty drain smell - but we could shut the door on that one! Slight mix up on arrival regarding whether we had paid in advance for breakfast. We had indeed already paid but looks like the issue was the fault of the booking agent rather than the hotel. However, although we were told this had been resolved, we arrived for breakfast next morning to be told we had to pay. Was again resolved quite quickly but a little embarrassing at first. Lack of communication between front desk and restaurant I assume. None of the above however impacted on our enjoyment of the stay.

As good as ever? Not quite, but still good
We have stayed here a number of times and always been satisfied. Three slight disappointments this time. Hotels.com had not advised the hotel that we had prepaid breakfast. Our original booking did not mention the £10 per night parking fee. We were unaware of this until the morning of our arrival. Having made alternative arrangements to park we noticed that drop off parking was only free for 15 minutes, a bit of a battle to check in, take cases to room and get out again. This needs rethinking and when on a budget it is a lot extra to have to find when staying a few nights. Finally I liked a poached egg with my bacon and hash browns, something i always look forward to. The egg is usually poached in a few minutes, while I wait at the servery, then I add the rest. This time I was told that the egg wiuld be brought to the table. I added bacon and hash browns to my plate and went to sit down. After 10 minutes they were getting cold so I ate them. The egg appeared several minutes later, after I had finished. Ppached egg on a plate with nothing else? No thankyou, i went to get some toast. I would add that the restaurant was very quiet and the chef had nothing else to do. However to end my review i would add that the staff were as friendly as ever (although command of English and clarity of speech was not the forte of the initial reception staff), the room was clean and the bed really comfortable.

We only stayed for 1 night, but really enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself was excellent, friendly staff and very nice rooms. We also booked dinner at the in house restaurant ‘1924’, which was very nice indeed. Excellent food quality and again friendly attentive staff. Would definitely come back if ever in the area again.
