I'll start off by saying the reception staff were excellent from even before my arrival. I had high expectations of the hotel as it is a 5* and has such fantastic reviews, but I was a little disappointed.
The food is not as good as I'd expect - breakfast is fine, starters and desserts at dinner are ok, but mains are not great. Every option seemed to taste pretty similar with similar vegetable accompaniments/sauce each night. The cooking of the meat for mains was not of a consistent quality.
We had a room with individual pool which was nice, but not quite as special as I'd thought. The outside walls between the rooms with pools is very low so had our neighbours been out more it wouldn't have felt private at all.
We tried the spa as when we booked it came with a complimentary massage. The spa was nice, and massage was fine, although didn't appreciate the masseuses whispering to each other throughout, quite distracting from this relaxing experience.
The town itself really does not have much at all, so it's a good thing we were looking for only a relaxing holiday where we'd stay in the hotel the whole time. Not very picturesque.
Overall slightly disappointing - the hotel overall seems a bit out of place in this location, and with some improved dining options and a more luxurious feel I would agree with a 5* rating; as is I found it more of a solid 4*.
