The facility is not a luxury hotel, but a friendly place very close to a spectacular National Park (5 mins). The view from the rooms is gorgeous, the Great Sand Dunes!
Choosing a room, those with a porch (table and chairs under a roof) has less light, but good for breakfast and picnics.
Fridge and microwave makes it utilitarian and the breakfast fair is similar to mid range hotels. Staff was very helpful and we saw families staying for several days to hike, etc.
although initially skeptical my wife agreed, it was a nice place, quiet and So close to the Park. Easy to attend evening Ranger talks, interesting, and Dark Night viewing.
Go for it.
