Please read this and avoid at all costs.
This hotel is infested with bed bugs, they are aware of this, see reviews by other, it clearly needs to block bookings for a few weeks and have the whole place fumigated. I have around 50 bites, i have had to treat all my belongings as contaminated on my return. Charges commission on booking on top of city tax. Never came across this. The rooms themselves are small with no ventilation, we had to sleep with the door propped open as there was simply no air and I witnessed others doing the same. The rooms are grubby especially the showers. The concept of the hotel looks great, hence my decision to book, however this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in Amsterdam and i have visited upwards of 7 times, I would go as far as saying its possibly the worst hotel i have stayed in period and I am very well travelled.

the area is so quiet and safe with the tram only a 4 min walk away but my sheets had a blood stain and my towel also had a little stain. there’s ventilation in the rooms but our two rooms were both broken and having no windows made it very stuffy. the bar below is very nice with nice staff.

If vibes alone made a place great…
Had booked one room, which was unavailable when I arrived. Moved me to a different room, which was disappointing, but nice none the less. But I guess the reassigned room was the wrong one too. Slept well, the showers were nice, and the staff were great.

Hotel Not Hotel was perfect for our trip. There are nice parks in the area and for those who enjoy walking it is a nice walk into the main part of town. Plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area and a nice market close by. The rooms are clean and well kept. The bathrooms are modern and relatively clean too.

Lovely quirky rooms with a cool vibe. If your room is upstairs it can be quite a long and steep walk to get to the communal bathrooms Our room had absolutely no furniture except for a tiny bedstand. We had to keep our clothes on the floor our entire stay. But the placd definetly has a fun, freindly vibe

The washrooms were not the cleanest and they have weird layouts so you have to jump into another stall depending on what you need. We reserved the kombi room and were given the Casa no Casa which was ok as it's bigger and more comfortable. Overall good experience there

Our room was very small and quite warm! No one made up our bed or provided any sort of room cleaning during our stay. Bathrooms were very clean and we never had to wait. Overall, it was a place to sleep and it did the job

Funky spot close to transport
Hotel was funky and clean. Relatively quiet with just a little noise from the bar. Close to the tram stop which was very handy for getting to the airport and into town. We were charged for our stay twice but this was quickly resolved by the manager.

It’s better to visit as a “modern art” installation place, but horrible place to stay. The advertisement is misleading. We literally stayed in a bookcase like storage. There were no windows and they turn off lights in the hall in the evening. There’s no ventilation and quite expensive for the very bare amenities they offer. I stayed at a Best western two years ago, and the Hotel Not Hotel made it seem like best western was a 5 star hotel. I do not recommend this place to anyone, not even the one with eclectic taste.

Concept pretty neat and the decor was super cool which was what drew me to book this stay. It is really a Hostel and not a hotel. It is further out from central areas than I thought but easily walkable or you could take trams. However, management needs to deal with overall cleanliness and ventilation. My room under the stairs had the distinct odour of cat urine which was only partially dealt with by the small fan attached to the wall. With no windows or central ventilation, it becomes very stuffy and hot. Secondly, despite having regularly checked bedding and mattress for signs of bedbugs prior to getting into the bed, I have most definitely brought them home which is a massive nuisance. I would not personally recommend staying here until these issues are dealt with appropriately.

Brutal experience at the hotel not hotel in Amsterdam. For starters, the room is extremely hot and stuffy. There is a fan but it does not work. We brought up our complaint to an employee and it was never acknowledged or dealt with. After that We found blood stains on the linens and pillowcases. The fact that someone went ahead and put this room together knowing that the sheets were stained with blood is unacceptable and completely unhygienic. We brought it up with the front desk and were only offered a “clean” change of sheets. For the price I would have expected a lot better. Spend the extra money and find a better place to stay when in Amsterdam.

I had the best time at Hotel Not Hotel! My room was behind a hidden bookshelf. It was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was amazing. I can’t wait to visit again!
