The room itself in the hotel unit was plain but functional. The area where it is set near the Naeroyfjorden is so beautiful! Getting to be there afternoon, evening and morning was simply amazing.
Family overnight stop with dog. Exceeded expectations. The current pictures do not do it justice. Accommodation was recently refurbished and was very pleasant. The seafood restaurant was amazing and staff great. Very accommodating, even with our dog. Beautiful, serene and breathtaking. Would go back, stay for longer and make more use of the canoe and kayak options. (Must book canoe trips before you go).
The Viking rooms are one of the most unique experiences! The rooms have a large roof window which would be fantastic in winter months to view the night sky. Unfortunately during summer where the days are long, it may impede your sleep! Bring eye masks to help. Had a comfortable nights stay.
The two hotel restaurants are very close by and if needed a cafe and pizzeria are handy too.
Only stay at his hotel if you have a car, otherwise it is tricky to get to/from Flam. There are shuttle buses but you need to pre-book them & the times are a little erratic. It was not possible to get a shuttle bus in the morning back to Flam for our return train journey - we had to pay 700 krona/£50 in a taxi!! Staff at the hotel weren't that helpful. However, the room was spotless & comfortable & the location at the edge of the fjord is STUNNING!! Very convenient for the electric fjord cruise boat.
Comfy cozy room, very clean and updated. Loved the window view of the surrounding mountains/waterfalls. Quiet village with a grocery store with everything you needed, plus a number of options for meals. Easy transportation to and from the local hotspot.
You need to know this hotel consists of a number of different, mostly single level buildings. The reception/gift shop/restaurant is one and the rooms are all in other buildings, only a few next door. The rest are spread down along the road. At least one has rooms reached by an outdoor stairway and the units are a kitchenette on one level and bedrooms up more stares. Most guests arrive by private car or tour bus. If you take the Vy bus on your own you are dropped off on the main road and need to walk into the settlement across a bridge and down a ways. Our room was back much of the way we had come.We were there to catch the ferry to Fläm and so had to wheel our luggage all the way back down the road to reception and the ferry dock. We certainly got our steps in.
That said, things were neat and clean. We had a lovely view of waterfalls from our porch. There is a living history Viking village (with restaurant) in walking distance. There is a bakery/cafe that serves excellent pizzas and baked treats near the ferry dock.
