We arrived early to the Marriott on Monday, August 12th & requested an early check-in with 2 connected rooms so our group could be together. They said they could accommodate us. They gave us room keys for the 5th floor. Upon arrival, there was an awkward smell, but we thought nothing of it. The girls unpacked, & I checked on them. I looked up & there was black mold on the ceiling. I told everyone to pack their bags so we could move to a different room. I tried to move us out of the hotel but all the surrounding hotels were at capacity. We were given a 2nd room on the 4th floor. This room smelled better, but the girls immediately noticed that the bed sheets were stained and the refrigerator was missing. We left the room on the 4th floor, & they told us that there were not more connected rooms for us. We went to eat at the hotel restaurant while we waited. The food was mediocre, but the staff were friendly. Eventually, a manager was brought out to speak to me & he found us rooms on the 6th floor where we staid for our trip. Better than the first two rooms, this accommodation still had its problems: 1) The rooms had not been adequately cleaned from previous guests as the girls found a sock and t-shirt under their bed. They also found a juice box. 2) I took a nap one afternoon in my pajamas, and an insect had crawled on me bit my leg up. 3) While showering, the picture in the bathroom fell off the wall and shattered glass everywhere. 4) The second floor smelled like rat urine.
