This Hotel firstly has charm, is quirky, beautiful gardens, well located and full of Oak Beams and oak panelling.
The Staff are friendly and smart but that’s where it stops with the positives unfortunately.
First disappointment was the bar, with no draught products as they had no gas and hadn’t for a while!
Secondly there is no lift and the lovely oak beamed bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, but no warning of the climb with your cases and when you’re 68 and have arthritis it wasn’t easy, so a check from the Hotel on allocation might be advisable?
Finally the Breakfast, which was buffet style, but it wasn’t hot, due to the Bain Marie only operating with hot lamps and not the hot plate, when it needs both, to keep it hot! It wasn’t at its legal temperature of over 63c and other guests complained and it got taken off on one day altogether! The plates had signs saying hot but they were cold as well as it wasn’t working.
The sausages came out aenemic and weren’t hot to start with either ! All this food is supposed to be regularly temperature checked by law and it obviously isn’t and my partner has been ill ever since, plus they regularly ran out of items before they were replenished so your lukewarm breakfast got even colder before the items arrived when staff said 2 minutes and it took 10!
Quite a few complained during our 3 days there, so for a 3star establishment it’s totally not acceptable to risk people’s health by not following Food Safety Legislation!
