Located just 5 minutes walk from Sutthisan MRT is this great little bed and breakfast hotel. It's a basic place suited to someone on a budget, but the rooms are large enough to stay in relative comfort, mostly with ensuite, desk, chair, and television. There is a communal fridge if you really need to leave items in there, but this is Bangkok, where you can easily find options to eat out.
The included breakfast at the hotel is fantastic, with both western and Thai options, and I highly recommend the delicious pork kra pao. For other meals, the street market at Sutthisan are a great cheap local option with a variety of meals available, but while they thrive on the weekdays, most of these markets are closed on the weekend. There are also a few small restaurants close by.
The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful. They have limited English, but can usually put you through to the manager if there is something urgent you need to discuss. They do decent bag laundry, and the hotel is well connected with wifi.
If you're looking to stay in the heart of the tourist district, this isn't the place for you. But if you want to get a little off the beaten path and experience a more local version of Bangkok, I highly recommend visiting SidaRe.
