I really enjoyed my stay here. This was my first time coming out to North Carolina for the Land of Oz park and the convenience of this location can’t be beat. The rooms come with more than just a bed and a shower; there was a tiny living room area with a couch and coffee table and a kitchen with fridge, stove and cooking equipment. My only reservations were the bed pillows were a tad uncomfortable, the dishwasher didn’t entirely clean a couple of the dishes I used and I had some issues with the shower but from what I heard (and I might be misremembering now) it’s in the middle of a property owner transfer and will be undergoing a remodel soon. Hopefully they keep the layout of the rooms because I really enjoyed having a studio apartment for a hotel room. Not sure if I’ll make it back out there immediately next year as I came from California but when I do come back, if it’s open, I’ll definitely look into staying again.

Warning not at all What is described the property was two-story with a curvy narrow staircase to the bedroom totally inappropriate not to have disclosed this for a 70 year-old woman who couldn’t walk upstairs couldn’t sleep downstairs because the couch was at least 50 years old and disgusting to even look at Carpet gross Front desk closed at 5 although write up said 10pm No ac. Slow learners are we-
The overall condition of the property and room was substandard. The windows/door glass were smoked and locked off due to repairs-was obvious it had been like that for awhile based on the condition of the posted sign. Carpets needed cleaned and stretched and wires for TV's needed to be routed/covered. The beds were hard and mattresses appeared to be old. It was dark and wallpaper was peeling from the walls. The place needs a major remodel but it has needed that for years. We have stayed here before but won't make that mistake again. Travel a few miles to find something nicer as this would not be a yes for us again at any price-

No Air conditioning and it was hot at night. The carpet looks original and is worn out. No Elevator so we had to lug out suitcases upstairs - said they did not have room on the levels that you could walk in. They have a kitchen but no coffee in the room or condiments. We had to call and request a hair dryer which they brought up to us. When we checked out, they said that the property was sold and would be renovated -- I would wait for the renovation before going there again.

Everything at this property was outdated, from the wifi to the room key to the beds. The stairs between floors were in disrepair and unsafe. It was a very disappointing stay, especially for the cost. Rooms were overheated with no a/c. A fan had to be put in the window to cool it down.

The hotel is in need of repair. The AC was broken. There were some faulty electrical sockets. The property was clean but very dated. There is no elevator so if you are on the third floor you have to lug your luggage up at least one floor. You can enter on the second floor. The $35 "resort fee" is a total rip off as they have no pool and only a room with a ping pong and billiards table and a small weight room. The parking lot is gravel and had some ruts. So I hope that is not considered part of the "fee". The rooms were "roomy" but the beds were rock hard, the ventilation pans in both bathrooms were extremely loud and when you sat in the dead sofa it sank almost to the floor. As mentioned above very dated interior with furnishing to match. We didn't need it but the kitchenette was well stocked with equipment if you were going to do your own cooking.

Affordable, was clean, and location not too far up Beech Mountain so easy to get back down into Banner Elk. However, there is NOT air conditioning, so was quite hot. The Murphy bed was not super comfortable. Lastly, they charge a "Booking Fee" which is disclosed on some units but not others. This fee was never disclosed or discussed in my conversations prior to booking, when they called (twice!) prior to check in, at check in or check out, and has never been given to me in writing despite repeated requests. After the last conversation, where they were going to "have to talk to corporate" they never called me back. I have disputed the transaction with my credit card company and filed a CFPB complaint.

The balcony was closed, and the sofa bed was broken, but the 2 beds were comfy, and the room was clean. There was good water pressure, even being on the top floor on top of a mountain, which was good, and the bathrooms were both clean and in good working order. The gentleman and lady at the front desk were helpful when we checked in with some suggestions on what to do with the kids.

Kinda strange
There is a hidden additional fee of $35 that Hotels.com does not even mention. Upon arrival there were no employees on site. Found envelope at empty reception desk with my name on it and a key. I would not have known to even look for it if were not for another customer who happened to be in the lobby.
