A lovely escape to the country
This is a beautiful accommodation in a beautiful setting. The description is correct in noting the "eye for detail": the interior decor is stunning. The loft / open concept was ideal for my husband, son and I and the location allowed for daytrips to Bruges, Ghent as well as some cycling along the canal (although the bicycles are in need of some maintenance).

A beautiful spot, one of the nicest places I have stayed in. The grounds and surrounding county side is beautiful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a spot near Brugge.

Tranquil stay close to Bruges
We enjoyed our stay in this unusual property in a tranquil location. It is very well equipped and everything we needed was there! We loved the bikes and we used them to cycle the 13km along the river bank to the centre of Bruges.

Rest and Relax in the Countryside
This is a great house to rest and relax. It is in a great location that makes it easy to get to the beach and surrounding towns. We loved the alpaca neighbors next door and walked into town for a fun food truck rally. It was a nice weekend out of the city.

Great place to explore the Flanders region.
We had a great stay for a week at the house. It was very well presented with all amenities you would expect. The kitchen/living area was very stylish and also very easy to use. It's rare to go to a house in another country without really struggling to use the kitchen equipment (in particular the oven), but this wasn't the case here. The bathroom was really good with a fantastic shower. The wi-fi worked well. The living area was very comfortable, we enjoyed spending evenings sat inside or having a meal outside when the weather was good. The grounds were lovely and our son particularly enjoyed the trampoline. The location was very good, with easy access to all of the Flanders region by car, bus or rail. If you really wanted to cycle around the area, there were some bikes available (in excellent condition). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we were in the area.

Lovely property
It's a nice place in a lovely, quiet spot. It would be especially nice in summer, when you could eat outside and enjoy the views. I give this 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: 1. It is listed as a two-bedroom facility, but it is not. It is a one-room cabin with an open loft. The bathroom is private, but the two "bedrooms," located upstairs, are only separated by a saloon-style swinging door. Indeed, you have to walk through one to get to the other (e.g., to go the bathroom at night), and anything said or done in one can be readily heard. 2. The stairs that lead to the loft are more like a ladder than stairs. VERY steep and shallow, and no hand rail on the open side. Hard to get luggage upstairs, and could be dangerous for seniors, young children, etc. If those are not a problem for you, then this is a good place.

Great property with easy access (by car) to Bruges and Ghent. Nice big yard for the pets and kids.
Great property. Positives: stylish but also fully functional kitchen, good furniture, great enclosed yard for kids and pets, fireplace with lots of wood, plenty of water and great water pressure in the shower, easy drive to Bruges and Ghent. Negatives: steep stairs to loft, very warm in loft if there is any amount of heat on in the lower level.

Delightful country cottage with easy access to Brugge.
Jo is a very generous property owner who allowed dogs, provided linens and wood for a very efficient fireplace. The kitchen is well stocked, essential with COVID and eating in. We enjoyed drinks on the terrace and the sunrise from the superb glass windows. Thank you Jo!

Dreamy modern cottage in the country
This cottage was rustic on the outside and modern on the inside, and it was nestled in the cozy Belgian countryside. Lots of amenities and a full kitchen made it a comfortable, lovely vacation spot. It came with a crib, which was helpful. The 2 beds are both in the loft, and while there's a visual divide between bed areas, there's no sound divide. So if you're looking for some private time, that's good to know! Be sure to factor in time checking in and out to drop off the key at the host's home, which is a few minutes away.

Relaxing setting! Perfect for young family with children. Bring your own soap and shampoo even if for 1-2 nights. Kitchen has everything needed. Be prepared to climb ladder type steps to sleeping area in loft. Trees with apples and and grapes on the vines! Pond water very low and may need insect repellant due to mosquitoes, Bed very comfortable. Love the cows and fenced in yard.

Relaxing in style
The home was lovely and very stylish. The shower is amazing! Bedding was comfortable though the stairs are slightly intimidating at first to go up to the bedrooms. As many have stated there isn’t privacy that many are accustomed to since you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the loft area. If you’re with family or friends like family there’s no issue. The furnishings are very well done and we were impressed with the quality of everything. Even had bikes for us to use in the shed. Made for a fun journey to and around Brugge. Joke is super easy to communicate with and very welcoming. She saw how tired we were from a long flight and drive so she gave us a little extra treat of a couple of Belgium beers and sparkling wine. Looking out to see the cows and being able to feed the fish in the pond was a bonus. We’d love to come back and enjoy this home again!

Bravo!

Great location for day trips
This property was the perfect location for our first trip to Belgium, and well situated for day trips to visit the many historic towns. Communication with Joke was always great, and she was quick to answer our questions. If you enjoy being out in the beautiful countryside on your own, this is a great choice for you. You see beautiful green pastures as far as you look. It would have been a bit difficult to find on our own. Thankfully Joke led us there. Although it is out in the country, you are close enough to town for groceries, as well as convenient to the major highways when you want to explore further. The house was well maintained, and quality materials and furnishings had been used. We found the kitchen great for preparing breakfasts, and had it been warmer we would have enjoyed the outdoor dining area. The many bikes in the shed was a nice bonus, and we were able to take a short ride on one of the country roads adjacent to the house. We booked a two bedroom because of a snoring issue. The sleeping area is really a loft open to the downstairs, and is more of one room separated by louvered doors so that did not help with any noise. For just the two of us it was ok, but feel a second couple would be too tight, and the lack of bedroom privacy would have been an issue. Additionally, you had to walk through one of the 'bedrooms' to go downstairs to the bathroom. The stairs were more of a ladder, and may present a problem for folks with mobility issues. The water pressure in the shower was supurb! The furniture was very comfy. Don't plan on sleeping in as there are no curtains, and the sun will certainly let you know it is time to get up! Although we enjoyed the house we found it a bit small. There is no place to put your stuff - no closets, cupboards, dressers etc. We ended up having to live out of one suitcase on the kitchen table, and the other in the living room. If these things are not a problem for you I would suggest you book this property.

Lovely quite geat away.
Spent 4 nights at Carpe Diem. We drove over from the UK and head straight to meet the owner. We were taken around the property making sure everything was ok. We basically loved it here. We brought our small dog who loved the garden. The home is very very nice and has everything you need. The surrounding area is very quiet, a few cows and that’s it. We would come back. Bruges is only 10km up the road

Good house to stay for close family members
The house location is excellent - very quite area , close to Bruges and Ghent, biking road, etc. The house has everything what is needed. There is nothing offered by owner ( like tea, sugar, coffee,etc..) Only some leftovers from the previous guests. The first floor of the house is spacious and very cozy, . The stairs to the second floor where the bedrooms are very steep and narrow. So this might create the problem for little kids or elderly people. To get the second bedroom, you need to cross the first one. And the door between bedrooms is way too formal. However, if you are close family , it's not the problem. Like us - we really enjoy staying together. There are 5 bikes so one can use them to explore the area. The house is very clean., and nice pond on the property. There is a big grocery store near by.It was very easy to contact the owner, including check in and check out.I would recommend this house.Thank you Joke for having us.

Our family of 4 loved our stay at Carpe Diem. Hosts were very accommodating and provided a roll-away bed for our son. Kids loved the trampoline and feeding the koi. We enjoyed quiet bike rides. A perfect setting for dinners al fresco. Would recommend without hesitation.
