I stayed at The Orchids for several nights while on business in Bogota. The hotel was gorgeous, but overpriced for what it is. The walls are very thin so while working or trying to rest during the day I could clearly hear the staff talking loudly and goofing around on the floor below. There also is no heating, so the staff helpfully brought a portable fire place. On the second night, however, the fire place began smoking and set off the fire alarm in the entire hotel. My room smelled like kerosene after that. Finally, on my first morning the breakfast person was late, causing me to miss breakfast because I had to get to a meeting that morning. Perks were the delicious breakfast (when available), friendly staff and the ambience. I wouldn't stay here again, however.
