This property is in bad need of maintenance. I booked a room, and after suffering through an evening in which the room wouldn't get below 85 degrees, I was shown 3 more rooms, 2 of which had the same issue. The third was about 73 degrees, which was just barely acceptable. However, the AC system is so old it barely blows air so you can't even get a good draft to feel cooler. This was the main issue, but the hotel is also very dirty, everywhere, and the property hasn't been updated probably since it was built.
Besides the condition of the property, the front desk staff is very helpful and friendly, as well as the rest of the staff. They are obviously doing the best with what they have. The city of Boise also contracts with this hotel to house the homeless, which is fine, but there is just people hanging around smoking and loitering around the front entry and parking lot at all times of the day and night that you don't get at nicer hotels. Overall it doesn't feel unsafe, just dingy and gross.
