About this property

Unique Converted Horsebarn

HB2 is one unit of a duplex created from a warmly converted horse barn with all the amenities, but without the horses. However, you do have a full bedroom, bathroom, large living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, deck and outside area for sitting and BBQ. Bring your own charcoal if you use the grill. You also get a full view of the 3 acre pond, the beautiful night sky (without street lights) and a free range duck might walk by, or a fox might call for her mate in the evening. It's rustic unique and comfortable with a queen size bed in the bedroom and fold out futons in the living room to sleep four more or an inflatable queen bed to sleep two more in a cozy manner. Two children under 12 years old are free of charge. Dogs are permitted on a case by case approval basis, must be on a leash at all times when outside and in restricted areas. If you need more room you can rent the other properties on the farm, 901663 (Manor House)or 1048741 (the Bunkhouse).

So much to experience for lasting memories. Experience the night sky, the stars, the Milky Way without light pollution. With the guide book inside your rental, experience a self guided tour to the Stars and beyond! If you want to get closer to the ground, take a self guided walking “scavenger hunt” around the property and learn about the animals, fish, pond and trees. Very informative and thought provoking. Looking for relaxation, make a picnic at the spool tables near the pasture and watch the alpacas, goats and pigs eat and play. Some of them will come right up to the fence and watch you too.

If you will be working from "home", there may be an additional energy charge. Please write to discuss the details.
There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. The bathroom has a shower and a hair dryer. Conveniences include a desk and a microwave.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

A very nice get away. Simple, clean, and quiet. Although I stayed alone, it was nice to see card and board games, books and a fun scavenger hunt around the property! I sure would bring the family next time! Lots to do close by or day trips :)

Your place is the perfect getaway for us. We love that we have our privacy, and that you are very gracious in everything that you do for your guests. I highly recommend this location for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and just relax, the owners are exceptional and do everything they can to make your stay a complete delight

A perfect relaxing getaway
The property was situated on a really beautiful farm. The unit I stayed in was very cute and quaint and had lots of interesting books to read. I stayed here on a weekend getaway from the city and it was just what I needed to get some R&R. It’s not too far from some cute small towns and some great hiking areas! The hosts were great and even gifted me some goat milk soap! I highly highly recommend this property.

Lovely setting
The accommodations were very clean and it was a very tranquil setting. The kitchen had everything you would need if you wanted to cook. The accommodations were very spacious and the queen bed was comfortable. There was a separate living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. I will come back here the next time I want to go to skyline Drive. 😀😀😀

Beautiful setting - nice property owners
Farm-like settings, animals, pastures, big pond - very nice. It was part of a duplex, which we didn’t realize but not a big deal. Not the lap of luxury but everything you need and everything in good working order. Fifteen minute ride to Culpepper - recommend making a reservation at the popular places, which also seem to close on the early side.

Pleasant Escape with Unique Amenities
HB2 is a short jog from Culpeper that created a very rural, nearly off-grid experience. The farm is fantastic, simple in the best sense, quiet, wildlife and farm animals alike, great sunsets, and surprisingly great star gazing with the minimal light pollution and clear skies. It has a cottage feel to it, not a lot of creature comforts which was a great change of pace, cooked a lot of my meals, read more, fed the ducks, made over due phone calls, the place really lacked distractions. Peter and Helen were very responsive and the eggs were fantastic, think I made breakfast for dinner 15 of my 20 days out there.

Nice spot for a getaway
Stayed in a converted horse barn. Uniquely done. Not the most updated amenities, but no real complaints and the price was very reasonable. Quaint setting on a gorgeous pond that provides good fishing. Since I'd rather save some money than have the latest amenities, this place fit the bill.

Great and peaceful spot with access to Shenandoah
I stayed here with my partner and a friend for a weekend of exploring Shenandoah. It's a really lovely location, with peaceful mornings at home watching the ducks and visiting the goats. HB2 had everything needed to cook breakfast and a light dinner. It was also a great home base for exploring Shenandoah or just the surrounding area--tons of great breweries and quaint towns nearby. We really appreciated all of the recommendations from the hosts about nearby places to visit and shop for provisions, and particularly loved a quick stop at Virginia Bison/Cibola Farms. I would definitely stay again if I'm in the area!

Beautiful, quiet, clean
The home was spacious and amazingly clean and dust free. I loved waking up to the ducks and geese at the edge of the pond and the scavenger hunt was a very cute touch. It was easily accessible to downtown Culpepper and Shenandoah National Park. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.
