Nice public spaces, adequate rooms. Staff just don’t try hard to be helpful or explain things. Breakfast room lovely but food options not great.
We were disappointed by our stay at Cavanera. We were informed a few days before our stay that the restaurant would be closed, and the tasting room/bar was also closed. We booked a room with king size bed but it was only a queen, despite reception telling us otherwise. Parking was far from the room, including a lot of steps, which we didn't anticipate with our bags, and not well lit to walk from, when we had to come back from a dinner out instead of the (closed) restaurant onsite.
Overall the views are pretty, but we would caution to check about the desired amenities you'd like, and that the advertised king bed size was not accurate.
Beautifully located, spectacular scenery amongst the slopes of Etna and the vineyards. Property is well hidden, you wouldn't know it is there unless you are specifically looking for it. Property is well maintained and their respect for the environment and minimal impact is evident. The staff were wonderful with our check in, escorting us to our room. The pool is lovely, elevated and surrounded by vineyards. Our room was perfect, situated in one of the bungalows. All furnishings and amenities in the room were excellent. We took advantage of the winery tour and tasting and dinner. Our guide was great, very knowledgeable about the winery itself and the wine world in general. Our dinner was delicious....highly recommend the tasting/dinner combo. The staff was very accommodating on our check out date, as we had an Etna trek/tour planned, holding on to our luggage and letting us leave our vehicle there while we were away on our tour for several hours. Looking forward to returning some day, either here or on of the other Filiato properties.
Property is lovely and the reception staff was great. The staff members in the wine bar were very loud and chatty as they complained about work while customers were seated. It was unfortunate because it is such an amazing space and the staff should not be an annoyance. Everything else was great. The wine tour and tasting was very informative.
The property is not simple to reach especially at night. It is for the quite lovers as even the reception close at 8pm . The restaurant is very good. Breakfast ok nothing that make you fill you should be in an upscale wine resort
The vineyards location is stunning. View from the room.of mt etna and the vineyard. Beautiful room and pool area. Wine tour with Roberto was amazing and the wine delicious.we opted just for a meat and cheese selection which was very nice and generous portion! However breakfast the next day was poor. Signs to say €2 for tea and coffee and €6 for a cooked breakfast. We ordered tea but wasnt charged so slightly confused on the signs. Cold selection is a bit lacking. Pool hours are 11 till 7 so no chance of a dip in the pool before checkout in 34c weather
Beautiful location and accommodation. The reception personnel were very helpful in all aspects of our stay. Waking up and walking out to the breakfast area was a wonderful experience with Etna in the background. The new restaurant was great, good food and wine, very helpful staff and excellent views. Did not disappoint!
We stayed at this resort in October 2018. We were only there for one night - wish we had stayed longer. This winery/hotel is in a remote area near Mt. Etna, so it is very quiet and peaceful. We heard they are building a restaurant on site which is a great idea because now I think they only serve breakfast and lunch. We did a fabulous wine tasting with them and did not want to drive and they were incredible about whipping up a light dinner for us in their kitchen - this was not part of their program and they went out of their way to be accommodating. The breakfast was fabulous too and I ended up buying some wine. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area and love wine. It's definitely worth it!
Great setting however staff are rather tricky. From the moment we arrived we felt slightly unwanted. We weren’t informed of any of the activities the hotel or surrounding area has to offer. We were not even able to do the wine tasting even though this is pretty much the only thing the hotel has to offer. LOL!
WiFi barely works. There is no restaurant and most of the local restaurants which were recommended to us were shut.
Check in very bad we arrived early but had to wait until the check in time even though we were pretty much the only guests there. When we asked to use the bikes we were told that ‘the tyres are flat’ but when we checked they seemed fine and there was a pump beside them. We were left alone in the bar for hours with no service.
All in all an absolutely baffling experience but such a shame as the place is lovely.
Beautiful place-peaceful and quiet. Room was quite nice but AC did not work. They offered different room but AC did not work in that one either. If you want the wine experience very nice place.
