Pak Chiang Mai is a great place to stay in Chiang Mai. Located in the Old City, it is slightly away from the Tha Phae Gate (east gate) hustle and bustle, but still within easy walking distance of lots of restaurants. The hotel is charming and built in a Lannathai style. Breakfast is prepared with great care with fresh juices, fruit, coffee and made to order entrees. Bottled water in glass or plastic bottles is free and readily available, and the staff is very gentle and accommodating. We recommend staying in a larger second floor room. Great places to eat nearby are The Faces Gallery that is across the street, Munchies for vegan snacks and the Reform Kafé at the Green Tiger house. Also, be sure to check out the eclectic jazz on two floors of the North Gate Jazz Co-op.
The rooms are crafted modestly, traditionally, and in a sophisticated manner. The common spaces are also quite well-curated. No televisions, hairdryers, and internet in my room (#12) was basically non-existent as I needed to rely on my own phone data. The location is great and walkable to all of the cute and curated experiences the Old Town of Chiang Mai has to offer.
Pros—staff was very conscientious with their work. Very clean; breakfasts tasty and good presentation; front desk tried to be helpful Location good for street food and sat nt mkt. and songteau transport. Close by wat for cheap clean massage. Bakery walking distance. Ambiance and decor felt very authentic—ponds, flora, wooden swings, elevated seating and lounge areas.
Cons—nice to have tea in afternoon but best to just leave pots downstairs available to pick up rather than waking up napping guests. Mosquitos but they are hard to avoid in Thailand. Might be best not to have standing water lily planters in upstairs level.
This place was an amazing value for the price. Beautiful and relaxing garden / relaxation area, nice and clean rooms, tea and cookies left for me in the afternoon, and great breakfast. They also comped me one night when my flight delays led me to miss my first night there, even though it was after the cancellation window. Great location, too. Really I couldn't have found anything better for this amount of money.
Had a great stay. The property has lots of character, is well maintained and comfortable. We liked the range of delicious options in the included breakfast and found the location well-situated for exploring on foot while also an oasis of calm. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would be happy to stay again.
Pros:
-large, comfortable room with nice outdoor garden to relax/ work in
-good wifi, great toiletries in the bathroom
-staff was incredibly friendly and brought tea in the afternoon
-unlimited free bottled water, which you could take at your leisure
-great breakfast with fresh juice and snacks
Cons
-trouble contacting the hotel prior to my stay, they never responded to my requests to book an airport transfer
-some front desk staff did not speak english, which made it hard to get recommendations
-they no longer offer massages, so you'll need to book that somewhere else
Gorgeous place thats done up really well. Nice bathroom facilities. Clean and comfy beds. Yummy tea and cookie turndown service. Only negatives are the completely sheer curtains. The room was bright from outside lighting the whole night. Also the walls are very thin so you can hear everything outside and in the next room.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. All the details were lovely, tea in the afternoon and upon our arrival. The staff and especially the owner were extremely helpful. The location was excellent. Only small drawback was the street noise at night, however because we were in prime location it was to be expected and would stay here again.
We stayed at the Pak Chiang Mai hotel for 3 nights and 4 days in Feb. 2018. The hotel was excellent all around from the location, decor and the fantastic service. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The lobby of the hotel was beautiful and peaceful. The breakfast that was included was delicious. The free water and afternoon tea were greately appreciated. Nat, the owner of the hotel was very nice and helpfull. He helped us with arranging taxis to and from the hotel and also advises us on what to do and see in Chiang Mai. Over all we had a great experience with the hotel and are reccomending it.
Our stay at Pak Chiang Mai was absolutely wonderful. The property feels tranquil and cozy in the midst of the craziness of busy Chiang Mai. Nat is an excellent guide to the area and provided us with great tips, the hotel staff was kind and the service was excellent. I liked everything about his hotel and look forward to coming back when I am next in Chiang Mai.
Nat was so very welcoming and genuinely kind and helpful throughout our stay. The garden where we had breakfast was beautiful and Thai omelette breakfast was delicious and filling. Everything about our stay was so gracious! The location is central for exploring the old city and yet very quiet. Overall a wonderful stay! Thank you!!!
Excellent hotel with great location in old city. Near to many interesting placing with food market just 2 minutes walk away.
Personal at hotel was also great and helpful.
Only negative I have is the wifi, but we didn’t spend so long time at hotel during our 4 nights stay so we could live with day.
Great breakfast also with one new treat every morning.
I would absolutely stay here again.
