Located alongside the Emerald Coast Parkway, this vacation rental is within walking distance of several popular restaurants including the Back Porch and the Pancakery. For groceries and essentials, you'll find a Target and a Walmart Supercenter, both about a mile from this condo. And if you're looking for some fun beyond the beach, head over to Big Kahuna's Water & Adventure Park, the largest water park on the Emerald Coast, just a little over a half-mile up the road.

Beach service is not included. A beach service vendor sits on the beach, and guests that wish to rent from the vendor must go out to the hut and pay them.
A resort fee (for amenity wristbands and parking passes) of $15 plus tax per person (5 years old and up) must be paid during mandatory pre-registering online. Website provided in confirmation email.
This unit has a max occupancy, including children. These are rules set by the State of Florida and the State of Florida Fire Codes. The Fire Codes go by square footage and not the beds in a unit. If you arrive with more than the max occupancy listed, the HOA will not allow you to check-in and you will not be entitled to a refund.

Beach getaway
Beach views are fantastic. Unit is missing a few necessities such as room darkening curtains or shades in bedrooms. Existing blinds do not block out exterior lights and it feels like daytime throughout the night. Also kitchen does not include pot holders which makes using the oven difficult. Our biggest problem was with the beach chair rental person. We understood beach chair rental was not included in our stay but we’re not aware our beach access is limited to being behind 3 rows of chairs if we didn’t choose to rent. We were told by the company we would be evicted from the property sitting at the waters edge in state owned property to watch our children in the water. He was very aggressive to our family and several others who decided not to support his company. We were told to sit at the waters edge in front of a neighboring condo or be evicted. He made several days of our trip very unpleasant and we will never stay at this condo building again. This property is managed by Vacasa and they did not help us or follow up on the beach problem or a broken dishwasher in the unit. We called 2 days in a row and were told someone was coming same day to fix it but they never arrived .Fortunately the beauty of Destin beaches made up for our unpleasant stay.

Florida Vacation
The views were great and the property was very well maintained. The only down fall we had was the security. One night after a full day I was eating a piece of pizza on the balcony enjoying the views when I noticed a guy staring at me for a substantial amount of time. Minutes later he was gone and there was a knock on our door. The security guard accused me of smoking on the balcony. I explained I was eating my pizza and he kept on. No one in my household smokes and he kept insisting that I was out there smoking. After that night I felt like he was constantly looking at us. I know he was doing his job but it definitely wasn’t coming from our balcony.

803 needs major updates
Upon checking in the kitchen counter was full of hair, ants and the countertops are coming up, the dry mat wasn’t cleaned and had a horrible smell to it, the dishwasher doesn’t stay closed unless it’s latched, the cabinets need an overhaul, bathroom in master ; cabinet is broken, mold around the door in the master bathroom. The views are stunning and the location is perfect, and enjoyed the amenities there. The unit could be much better with some renovations.

The apartment was clean. The kitchen was stocked, but would have been nice with touches like coffee filters, salt/pepper, etc. Upon arrival I found out we could not use the balcony. Great view, but hoped for this. This should have been made clear in the information.

Great proximity to beach, shopping, restaurants and activities. The Back Porch Restaurant is within a short walk. Nice pool. Negative is that the bedrooms are on the street side (Route 98) of the condo (instead of the water side) leading to alot of traffic noise.

2021 Family Vacation
The property has a great view of the ocean and beach. The unit is dated and is in need of upgrading. The bathroom sinks and tubs are stained and have mold. There is also mold in the ceiling as you enter the unit. The sheets in the 2nd bedroom were dirty when we arrived. There was sand in the sheets which means they were not changed or cleaned prior to our arrival. We had to change all the bedding after a long day of travel.

Destin is gorgeous and the view from Sterling Sands unit #803 was spectacular! My main issue is with the unit and Vacasa in particular. Unit 803 needs ALOT of updating. We don’t mind older things as we live in an older home. The cosmetic things were not an issue to start with. The main issue was the slats for the bunk bed in the spare room fell on my daughter while she slept. This was wildly unsafe for both of my children as my other daughter was on the top bunk. Thankfully neither was hurt. However, because of this all the little things started to be irritating and all I could think is how much I paid to stay here. Such as, the tub leaking and not draining in the hall bathroom, the pool passes and parking pass not being in the unit as they were supposed to be, there being no pot holders in the kitchen, the fridge not closing, a pot having a hole in it. I could go on and on. I sent an email to the property manager about the tub and the bed. They were both fixed. The scary thing is that maintenance said the bed slats were never screwed in to begin with. Thankfully my teenagers aren’t large people or this would have been far worse. When I called Vacasa about some type of refund for the room and all of the problems, we got the equivalent of a nice meal in Destin. If you have ever stayed in Destin, you know that is no where close to what we paid. I in no way wanted a full refund, but what they gave was insulting. I will say that everyone I spoke to or emailed about the room and the issues were very kind and helpful. My family and I will visit Destin again but will definitely not stay at the Sterling Sands or use Vacasa ever again.

Great Stay! Directly on the Beach
My mom and I stayed 4 nights at this property and it was very nice and clean. I loved the view of the ocean from our 8th floor balcony which was great while watching Dolphins swim close to the beach. My only suggestion is that the hall bathroom could use some updating mainly the sink and faucet. However, I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Location was good. Beach access was great!
The unit was as it was in the pictures. Could stand to be cleaned better, all light switches were black and grimy, bathrooms could use a deep scrub and floors mopped more often, our feet were black in the first hour. But the beds were comfy, the view is beautiful all other amenities were wonderful!

I Would Recommend With a Bit of Caution
The kitchen was well stocked with quality cookware, dishes, etc. (You'll need to bring your own coffee filters). Nice range & fridge. Very nice wood-look tile floors in great room and bedrooms looked new. The king bed was a pillow top, which was too soft for us, but it was very clean. The headboard was loose and the closet doors were off track enough to make it hard to move them. The shower pull lever still let a lot of water into the tub. There is no overhead fan or closet in the extra bedroom where our son and his wife slept. The twin beds promised in the description turned out to be a double bed on bottom, again very soft, and a twin bunk bed on top. The double decker washer and dryer worked well and the balcony was very enjoyable with sturdy furniture. The a.c. worked well and kept it cool and comfortable inside. We did enjoy our stay and the great view of the beach. Overall, we felt it just needed a bit of a facelift and some TLC. It also could have been cleaner. Bare feet were black on bottom after walking back and forth a bit. It was our first time to visit Destin and rent a condo, so perhaps my expectations were a bit high. I've tried to be fair in my review. I would recommend it to others with a bit of caution.

Perfect for family vacation!
The property was very nice, my only complaint is that there was only one elevator in service and there was a lot of construction going on at the time. We loved the pool and the view from the balcony. Needs some maintenance work on the dryer and the sink sprayer as well. Overall wonderful place to stay with family!!

We loved the area. The condo was close to many activities and restaurants.
The bedrooms are small. The second bedroom does not have a closet. The washer/dryer combo is very small and will not wash many items at a time. The decor and bathroom fixtures could stand updating. The location was perfect and the staff was very nice.

We had a great vacation. The only downside was the no curtains in the bedrooms with a 9 month old that's used to sleeping in a dark room, otherwise the room was great and the staff was very attentive and nice. Would recommend!
